t5 vs. vho actinic lighting?

im looking to add actinic supplemental lighting to my MH 2x250 xm 10k's, any suggestion on bulb/ballast combos or pros or cons of t5's vs. vho's would be appreciated.


I want to go with 2 x 48" bulbs

as far as actinic t5's i saw these
Giesemann PowerChrome - Pure Actinic for $22.50 good/bad??


I was told the t5's are brighter than vho?

Finaly, am I to overdive either of these bulbs if I just want to add actinic lighting?

t5 is vho, the difference is the size of the bulb

the advantage with smaller bulbs is that they use less space, so you can cram more over the same tank

I use t5s, check out my tank build thread for info about my fixture....right now its right below your thread (1140am)

as far as light penetrating power, I have heard that t5s are superior...

they are the new technology vs regular vhos
