Tahiti clams

Tahiti clams, I don't usually visit the clam forum but I just wanted to say that last week I was in Bora Bora and three other Tahitian Islands and tridacna clams grow there like weeds. I was amased at the prevalance of them and especially the baby blue ones that live all over the place. They are on public beaches, boat docks, lagoons, all over the place in very shallow water about 5' deep. You can't help stepping on them at times. I did a lot of SCUBA diving there but did not see any in deeper water. The water temp there is 82 and it is very clear. I did not test the salinity. It's a good think that Tahiti is so isolated or I am sure they would have been all collected. They are also eater there.

nice - I was in Fiji last year & they were everywhere there too - some deeper than I expected, but most right in little warm coves. Let's you appreciate that they're able to withstand more SG & temp variation than lots of other stuff you could put in your tank.
