Take Out Filter Sock???

this shouldn't even be a question. sock, socK, soCK, sOCK, SOCK! The reason your skimmer works better is because the larger size particulate matter is more abundant in the skimmer chamber if no sock is used. DUH! I have a dozen 7" 200 micron socks ( 3 that are 2 years old!) that I rotate about every 3 days and my tank has had 0 nitrate issues ever. I do run high intank flow, filter sock, big skimmer, calurpa ( better then chaeto ime's, and chaeto) and I've even gotten lazy and let the socks clog until they overflow before and they're 14" long. I should've tested my nitrates when that happens, it still happens every blue moon so maybe I'll leave one on for a week and test. hmm?

RO = Reef Octopus?
Great skimmers but there are better!
Does anyone actually believe all the particulates going down your drains make it into their skimmer?

FYI: they don't.

Nope, but if I had a sump, the skimmer would be gravity fed, so my answer would be "yes"
