Real simple can I mix a brown tang and a kole tang. I figure they are different families but the color is similar. If you have it working let me know.

So if I have a 240 going in a wall does that make a difference. I asked if they could go together. I didn't ask in a 110.

Well you should be more clear when posting questions then... It's like asking if you can put a shoal, clown,Achilles and a powder blue together... No. Well my tank is 3000g... Sure you can. :hammer:

I have always been told the have to be from different families and can't look alike. I was worried with similar color.

I have had both a Powder Brown and Yellow Eye Kole Tang together in my 125 for a year now. No issues at all. I QT'd them both together in a 46 gallon, and there was some tail slapping then, but nothing in the DT.

I think the point that you are not getting is that these things depend a lot on the size of the tank. What will, or may, work in an 8 ft tank won't work in a 4 ft one. Trying to put a swimmer like a PB into a small tank is asking for trouble IME.

In a tank of adequate size, I have mixed bristletooth and zebrasoma tangs, with multiples of each without major problems. Wouldn't do this with Acanthurus though.

In a standard 240, sure they can. Either introduce them together or the kole first, and try to get them at about the same size.
