Tang getting beat up

This post isn't real...not once has the poster said what size tank??!! 75% of this thread is about if the tank size matters and he not once has said..guys its a xxx gal. I call bluff..the answers are very elusive

You called bluff, tried to sound arrogant, and David smacked you in the face with a 500g tank. Now let's see if you can admit that you were completely wrong.

I wasn't avoiding tank size question as i said Size doesn't matter. Unless you in an ocean tanks will fight as you add more tangs.
My question was and still is. If I catch 4 to 6 tangs and move them to sump for two weeks then put them all back in at once. Do you think two weeks is long enough?

Blonde Naso is hot:) I love your tank!!!!!!!!!

What's the dimensions of the tank? When I have a moment, I will read your thread. I heard you can find a picture of the tang you want to introduce and tape it facing the fish for a few days. I never tried this myself but I herd stories that it works.

I dont know why people are acting like this... :debi:

You signature clearly says a 500 gallon tank, anyone can assume this is the tank your asking about.

as for putting all the other tangs in a fuge for 2 weeks, I think its certainly worth a try. I would introduce the purple once you remove the others instead of introducing them all at once. give the purple 2 weeks in there along then drop the other 4-6 in at once. hopefully it doesnt turn into a blood bath.

2 weeks ought to be long enough. Which tangs were the main aggressors? Or were they all? I would try to target the ones that were showing the most aggression towards the purple and put them on time out either in your fuge or QT. The acclimation box might work without removing other fish, I would try doing that first. If they ignore the purple in the box after a few days you will have a better chance, but in the end it's going to be your call.

the blond eats like a pig

I will follow up.
its 109x40x27

Wow.........The things I would do with that tank... Are you married? If so, can you tell me how you convinced your better half to do this? Or let me guess, you sent her on a week vacation and when she came back it was done.

"Hey hunni, I'm home....OMGGGGG.... *** IS THAT!"

" Can you believe the next door neighbour was throwing this out!"

:lmao:

Sir
I always use acclimation box its the easiest way to find out if the new addition will
be ok. Even though no aggression in the box released it 1 hour before the lights goes off at night so its easy to catch, in case it gets beat up again.

16 tangs is nothing in a big tank
Dave o2manyfish 400 gallon tank have more than 20 without issues
I was never a fan of tangs except Achilles and powder blue but If I was I probably have 30 tangs too.

he is in box I'll leave him in there for 2 weeks

I have to do the same thing too later.
I am introducing a clown tang on a Achilles, powder blue and mustard tang soon hopefully together with a show size Achilles too so it won't get beat up.

My main tank is being dominated by my orange tail emperor so hopefully no issues.

I can't quite tell, but it looks like there isn't a small rock in there with him. I'd recommend it so he has something to hide and sleep behind. Just a thought, make him more comfortable.

I don't have any direct experience but my reaction is that 2 weeks is plenty, whether it is in time out or an acclimation box. If 2 weeks doesn't work, it is hard to see why 4 weeks would work. You might also rearrange the rockwork/decor (if you can) and use a mirror just before releasing the purple.

I agree that it doesn't matter whether your tank is 400, 500 or 800 gallons, there probably isn't enough additional space to alter the result.

Interesting thread. I wonder if removing 6 tangs could disrupt the pekcing order and cause an all out battle royal after you re-introduced them? I usually give a new fish a couple of days in the box, and then give them some time to fight it out and establish a pecking order unless the new fish is being completely destroyed. My experience with tangs is the chasing is bad for the first day but slows down over the first week. I'm not sure about other fish you plan on adding but it can help if you add multiple fish at once.

I disagree, tangs is not as aggressive than large angel yet people put multiple on their tanks. I am in a process of trying add 2 larger Achilles and clown tang on a tank with already have establish Achilles, powder blue and mustard tang. It may work, it may not but you don't know if you don't try it. I done it before with purples and yellows with no issues.

my new larger achilles will get beat up so i put the powder blue in timeout for several hours then released the new achilles and clown tang
