+1 on the halfblack mimic. Looks like an LFS tank, but if it is a QT then definitely feed it! Offer as much seaweed as he will eat until he beefs up.

+1 Herbivores eat lots of mysis, etc. They should have both. Meaty foods will beef up the fish faster, possibly save it. Horses (herbivores) have to eat all day, wolves (carnivores) once a week.

Thanks for all the help. He is at a LFS I work at. He came in one of our Hawaii orders about a week ago. we feed frozen 2-3 times per week, otherwise flake/pellet. Nori soaked in garlic guard once a week. This guy grazes all day on algae in the tank. We have live rock and yes, fake plants/coral in the tanks. He eats a good amount for his size, still not sure why he is continuing to be this skinny. Some fish just slow down on feeding or stop completely. He is doing better though. We try to feed as much as possible but with 7,500 gallons of FOWLR/reef tanks and a 1,500g clownfish system, feeding 5+ times a day would be very time consuming on top of regular maintenance so we feed all at once Was just curious to see if anybody knew what type of tang this was. I agree with the Half Black Mimic

I don't know what kind of QT system you guys have (if at all) but deworming the fish is going to be a good idea. PraziPro is a great med

No we don't have a QT system. We have our two main FOWLR systems treated with copper

I have seen tangs recover from being paper thin in a month, but that won't happen at the store, especially if he needs to be dewormed. Discount him or adopt him out to someone with knowledge and a qt?

We did discount the tang, he is eating the same. Looks like he's getting a little fatter. We treat the systems with copper to make sure we don't get any ich breakouts in the system. We tell every customer that the water has copper in it, this is one of the many reasons why you hear that you're are not suppose to put anyone elses water in your tank. Copper also helps keep other sicknesses and diseases away. Thank You for any imput. Always willing to take any recommendations.

Pretty normal for lfs to run copper usually at lower levels...
