Every situation is different. I usually try to get a feel for how aggressive the Zebrasoma is before mixing them. I've mixed Scopas with other Zebrasomas with out any problems, so it surprises me to see Scott Michael describing a Scopas as the most aggressive of the Genus.
I currently have a Black, Purple, and Yellow in the same tank(lg tank) and they school together. It's only been a couple months but so far so good and the contrast of these 3 fish are amazing. I've also had a Yellow Scopas tang with a Sailfin and Lg Purple Tang together. And just this week a guy requested a Purple Tang with a Trio of Yellow Tangs for his 220. I've got them all in a 48x24x10 tank and so far so good. This was the Purple tangs home for a few weeks before I added the three yellow. They are smaller sized.
