Tank entirely for macro algae

I thought that this might be a cool idea. I don't know if many people with display tanks of nothing but macroalgae. Maybe there is a reason for this. From what I know, the nitrates and phosphates for macro algae need to be above zero. At least around 5ppm is what I have heard. I also know that they need good lighting between 5500 and 10,000K for best growth and a better chance against diatons and micro algae. I also know that different kinds of algae don't like one another, and release chemicals to fight off and kill anything that could compete with it. This sounds like soft corals. Does this mean that you cant keep different species of macro algae in the same display, or do they just need to be kept pruned so that they are not in direct contact with one another? Also, this is a bit beyond the topic of the thread, but could sponges be kept in a display that also had many different kinds of macro algae, or would it die?

Here's a thread you might find interesting ;)

No reason not to do what your talking about. Even the sponges should do OK. Just run lots of carbon and/or protein skimming to take care any released compounds from the macro's.
