I have a 2 foot cube with a gig and some True percs.
I would like to add a fish that:

Would be able to cope with a high flow environment.
May occur naturally in a shallow surge environment.
Will be strong and savvy enough to avoid the Nem.
Won't get too big.
Won't annoy the clown fish.
May use the sand bed?

I can Qt if needs be, Please think for me as I have a block, I have access to most species of fish commonly available. I realise not many, if any fish fit this bill, No Damsels;)

Thanks.

+1 on sunburst anthias and gramma. every gramma I have seen only shows aggression when something nears their little hole. even then I've never seed one bite.

The problem with anthias is that you have to feed them several times a day (one thing I cannot do). Other dottyback may be agressive but not Orchid Dottyback. Color of this dottyback is exceptional, and you can keep a breeding pair in the tank.
Gramma tend to loose color in captivity easy unless you give them a very healthy diet. Both Orchid Dottyback and Royal Gramma (can also keep in breeding unit of 2 or more)are among the best fishes you can have in a small tank other than clowns of course.
