Target feeding

What are your feeding regimen for zoas? I have a 12g Nano and not running a skimmer. Do you target feed your zoas? What type of food are you feeding?
Thanks in advance!

I dont target mine, ive heard mixed things. Plus i also have a 12g nano and worry about pollution so i only spot suncorals and acans

I got a 12g myself and thats why I'm asking. Maybe I should rephrase my question to-

"Are there any growth benefits to target feeding."

I feed mine every other day. or maybe 2 times per week ( I change out 2g of water every 4-5 days). My tank is a 7g.

I use
Kent's Zooplex / Phytoplex
Reef Nutrition Oyster Feast
Cyclopeeze
Reef Roid
Coral Frenze

and maybe 2-3 weeks I buy "Reef stew", its pretty much live copepod / phytoplankton and other stuff

I've noticed pretty good grow on some of my Zoanthid. My orange bam bam grew about 20 new head (that I can see) in about 5 weeks, not sure if that's the usual growth rate or not. I bought a frag of deepwater zoas I think 3 weeks ago. It came with only 3 heads, now there's 8 on there with 2-3 more forming.

Good to know.

Zoanthids do not eat phytoplankton, however, your "pods" will and it will increase their population and thus will feed the zoanthids :)

never seen a big advantage on target feeding zoas, unless they are palythoa. most zoas will net accept food. just makes more cleanup in the tank.

I always have good growth and polyp extension/heathly looking zoa and palys

I never feed mine, if they get anything it is from left overs from what i feed my fish.

I don't target feed my zoas either. I do target feed my acans, favias, brains, blasto's and lobos, so I guess they get whatever floats by.

I target feed every living thing in my tank including the fish with this

Kataro, please would you share a little about your tank?
- do you run a skimmer?
- what type of lighhting to you use (and wattage)?
- do you change water frequently or not?
- would you have a full tank picture you could post here? Seems like you have a relly nice nano given the growth you are getting.

I'm trying to learn because although I'm wit good and stable parameters I don't see zoa growth.

Thanks!

No skimmer. It's a ADA 30-C 12"x12"x12". I use T5 fixture from Fishneedit.. I got some bulb from petsmart that Im changing once my ATI bulbs gets here. But right now I run 2 actinic and 1 10k 24W each. I do water change every 4-5 days unless Im busy but it never goes past a week without water change.

I target feed all my zoas with oyster eggs. I started this approx 6 months ago. It seems they are getting better growth now.
