TDB's 320 SPS Rebuild

Thanks how is the tank?

It's coming along, but I had some issues with fish additions and had a nasty parasitic outbreak. I think I have things under control now. My plan was to get my fish bioload healthy and stable before adding coral, so things are falling into place. Just need to get my nitrates down now, lol!

What species of tang is on page 4 with the orange and yellow body

Edit- I didn't go to the last page. The post above this answers my question. The change in markings is very interesting.

It is a fowleri tang. Yeah it seems to be changing into adult colors. One interesting morph is that it seems to be losing it white stripe in the tail. Perhaps this indicates that it is a female. My other one was much larger and had a thick white stripe resembling a horse shoe.

Gorgeous fish. Yours appears to have better coloration than many I have seen online.

I agree. That's why I was wondering. The color is more beautiful than any of the fowleri tangs I see online. I would love one but my 240 gallon tank won't be big enough.

It really depends on how they are photographed. If you google you can see that the fish looks like 20 different fish. It seems that many have a difficult time correctly white balancing which exhibits the orange and yellow in the fish. The fish was very pale for the first year. Id imagine that many of the pictures are LFS after the long journey. This fish is one that you need to bring back to its full potential and pictures dont do justice. Here is one close prob a male considering th e white stripe:

Not showing the yellow to its potential and looks more brown.

One that displays more yellow but masks the yellow/orange in the body because the picture is so dark. Dosent pick up the yellow in the bottom fins.

Here is one with More Orange and Yellow than I have ever seen Notice it dosent have the white stripe. I am not an expert but it seems that the females have more orange yellow without the white stripe and the males look more of a Grayish with the white stripe or it is juvenile/adult colors. I believe mine falls between this one and the other two.

Hope everyone had a great summer. During this time I made three new changes to the system and I think the results have shown in the color.

1. Installed an automated water change system changing 4 gallons a day
2. Put Acro power on dosing pumps 10 ml throughout the day
3. Extended the lighting period Leds 14 hours T5 12 hours and Radiums 8 hours Replaced all of the bulbs in August

Enjoy the pics!

Breathtaking!!! It is every reefers dream tank.

It is as perfect as I have ever seen. I just keep stumbling over thoughts and expressions as I view your photographs.

Truly SPS heaven.

I am speechless. Congratulations on your efforts and the most beautiful tank ever.

You are indeed the SPS whisperer.

Holy Jesus! That is like acro crack! Love it!!!!!!!

Are you using any other supplements or is acropower it? A true collectors tank. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration!

Thanks Guys, I really appreciate the kind words. I throw exactly 20ML of oyster feast in once a week. If the corals start to lighten Ill maybe do twice a week.

Three things that really got the color kicking is removing GFO, Carbon and very low doses of Bio-Pellets!

Thanks tom, now I have to replace my computer. The drool shorted it out! Stunning, truly stunning!!!

WOW!!! The colours!!! That just looks amazing.

Tom, did you remove both GFO and GAC? And left in a small amount of pellets? What is the PO4 and NO3 levels?
