TDB's 320 SPS Rebuild

I have seen tanks as big, I've seen tanks with great growth, but never have I seen a tank with the sheer amount of different unique Acros with such spectacular color and health. I agree with many, this is easily my favorite reef tank ever period. If someone asked me "what's the best tank you've ever seen?" I'd say TDB's 320

No words really, thanks for sharing.

That is just simple coral insanity.....
Stunning!!
Growth, intense colour.. Stupendously ridiculous awesomeness!!!
Like Sahin, I'm a little confused by what you said about gfo, gac and biopellets..
My understanding is: you removed gfo but started using Carbon (gac) and small amounts of biopellets..
Is that correct?
And the mh is still a thing of the past, I assume?
Congratulations on your amazing set up!

Wow thanks all, This is my favorite place online for SPS information and to gain all of your respect is a great reward 2nd to this wonderful hobby. With that I thank all of you for sharing information and I have adopted tons of your information in my successes!

But to confirm what I was saying earlier, I Removed GFO and GAC from the system entirely and run about 250ML of Biopellets. I think when everything lines up you don't need these products and in some ways can work against us.

Thanks Again!!!!

So, all of this coral insanity was produced under 8 t5s and blue LEDs...
You never turned on the mh again?
Going back to look at the photos again :)
When is the last time you tested nutrients and what were the results?
Oops.. Disregard the lighting question.. I see you were running the mh..

Really truly amazing what you've accomplished, your colors are jaw dropping. Thanks for sharing, that was a great update!

Yeah I turned them back on. Instead of keeping off I stagger them 2 on at 8aM to 3PM and 2 on at 1PM to 9PM which has helped with the heat as I hate when the tank goes over 78.

The corals did well with T5 some areas around the edges suffered but running all three the results are stunning and keeping nutrients along with AA's keeps the corals from bleaching.

I tested nutrients and never had phos over .02 after the new rockwork was broken in. I shoot for light pink on the nitrate test but most of the time it is clear thus adding the oyster feast. Honestly I cant remember the last time I tested though.

I will point something interesting out that I would like to share. When I upgraded my skimmer to the Regal 300 I noticed significantly less skimmate vs my SRO 5000(10") later to find out the pump they delivered was undersized for the 12 inch body. So I think that the reduction in skimming has helped with the corals health and colors. In this new rebuild I have not had one STN or RTN event.

A final observation is that the Acro's have been much more successful without Montis like plates and digis. In my frag system, my monti's took off but my acro frags are barley growing, This was also observed in my old system where the monits took over. I think minimizing these corals and keeping all acros is the key to minimizing the competition in the tank. Now you only have to worry about that ugly acro over competing that beautiful one. I have also noticed this and well those acros found new homes.

What percentage of your acros are aquacultured, versus frag grown? All of your colonies look pretty universal in size, which you don't see very often.
