TDB's 320 SPS Rebuild

The tank is rocking, I purchased some RR Asia Colonies that came in cold and are now starting to get color back. Pictured also are some of my back-up frags that have turned into colonies.

Hardware updates:
I moved out 4 ATI blue Plus and added 4 ATI Actinic
I removed the 60 degree optics and added 80.

My phosphates also got up to .2 with the new rock so I threw some GFO in where it runs every other day. Phos is not down to .01

I am still getting use to the new lights but below are some new pics.

That looks fantastic! Is the color in the pics pretty representative of the color you see in person? If so, its a very nice "Pure White" which I love! Keep up the good work!

Very cool layout! It looks like a reef shelf. I've had similar ideas in the past, but never followed through with it. This will look amazing! Is the rock suspended on other small rocks, or did you use something else to achieve this?

Tdb are the colonies mounted on rocks maricultured or large peices or your old stuff?
These are Rr Asia so they are wild indo. They came in at 40 degrees. It will take a month or two to bring them back. I had lost .8 other colonies that I will be receiving soon

thanks!
I cut tonga branch with my circular saw and use the pieces to suspend the rock the whole shelf is suspended off of the glass on a 30 degree slope. I will be adding powerheads at each end to create an under flow.

Reefers, The 320 is maturing and the Frag tank is getting packed. I ended up switching the T5's with 4 Aqua Blue Special and 4 ATI True Actinics. I Run LED Royal blue for the blues. The Results are incredible. Over the next couple months I will be moving the larger colonies to the big tank! I am also swapping out my Radium Bulbs for XM10K's for a similar look. The below video is all natural without white balance on my Note 4.

Nice update Tom, those acros are looking amazing in your frag tub!

Any word on your skimmer performance? Has it improved or have you gone with another model?

The SRO XP SSS5000 on the Tub is rocking but I am not sure what is up with the New SRO 300 Regal. It is not pulling skimmate like I am use to but the tank's parameters are perfect. I am not sure if it is because it has no sand and too new of a tank but defiantly not performing how I expected considering it has a 12" diameter body. I think the tank needs to mature and age to see if the skimmer is what they say it can do which is 800 Gallons.

The below video is skimmate for a week, change every Sunday. It is on a slight angle because the skimmer bracket holding the shelf silicone to the glass broke off so the shelf is sitting on the Hotwater loop.

Ton

All the photos you have posted, what were they taken with? The clarity and focus is awesome.

Thanks

Rich

Hi Rich, The very high resolution pictures are taken with my cannon T4I. But the ones for this build so far have been done with the Samsung Note 4. I have the best of Luck when I turn off all blue light.

Thanks Tom

Wow Tom, the colours in the frag tub are just popping! Cant wait to see what you do with the main display.

What the exact filtration on the frag tank? I am really amazed at the colours popping out those corals.

Thanks,

The Tub has No SUMP. underneath the EggCrate is a mountain of Live Rick Centered suspended off of the bottom with PVC frame that holds the Egg Crate.

I installed a Jeabo WP60 that creates a whirlpool around the rock. I have a Mimic Tang, A large green scat, two large monos, a yellow tang and a blue damsel.

The filtration is a Reef dynamics bio-pellet reactor with very very low flow, As low as I can get it without the bacteria building up recirculating 500 ML of pellets.

Of course the Large SRO SSS5000 Cone skimmer and I float 1/8 the of a cup of rox carbon in a filter bag and That is it.

The top off is mechanical float with a solenoid valve and for WC's it is plumed to drain into the house sump and to fill up from the WC system.

It is all controlled with the Apex and a 30ft extension cable to my main unit.

I use a Geo 624 for the Alk and CA, which I have not touched for 2 years other than to fill the CO2) and dose 12 OZ per week of BRS MG.

Its been up for about 2 years and the only thing I changed was remove MH(Which worked great but got it too hot) and adding the T5's. Tek 8 X 80 Watts

It has been the perfect little prop system and has never given me problems, STN or RTN. Anything I see failing I put in there an it recovers. Maxing out at 8 amps I also use it as a quarantine system for all incoming corals which I observe and dip for 3-5 weeks or longer. Every other WC everything gets a dip in Bayer.

Previous to this last frag collection started in November. I set it up when my tank was crashing a year and half ago and My GF convenience me not to Get Out, I came home from work and the Tub was in my dining room and set it up to get back-up colonies. Since, I have helped two people save their tanks colonies in it and one guy that was Moving and needed a place to store until his new tank cycled.
