TDB's 320 SPS Tank

Hey whats going on. Hows the tank coming along?

Hey there, A couple of months ago I started searching for a new house which would mean the tank would need to come down and instead of moving it I would liquidate it. For whatever reason, I have not found the hose that I am in love with and subsequently planned on building my own house. At the moment I am overwhelmed with everything I said the heck with it Ill stay the winter.

That is good news as I can enjoy the tank one more winter.

As far as the tank it is really doing well. I love the tinker and find better ways of doing things and about two weeks ago I switched off the Calcium Reactor and am running 3 part on dosing pumps with Kalk in anticipation for the winter and a house full of Co2. Had a couple colonies pull back a little as I get it dialed in but the majority of corals are responding better than when running the CARX and Growth is incredible My PH has been at a solid 8.4-8.3 range. The bad news is that I am using about 720ML a day thus far which I calculated is about 6 gallons(salinity bucket) every two weeks.

I am running 3 part dosing as well, and just built three 13 Gallon Dosing tanks, (ALK, MAG, CAL). Where are you dosing Kalk? Are you running it in your RODI / Top Off? What is the best way to figure out the dosing regimen for Kalk? Living in Arizona I have my life support system outside on the basement atrium area. This has definitely helped with keeping my PH in the 8.1 to 8.3 range.

Do you dose 24 hours a day or just when the lights are on.

I use a kalk stirrer from avast marine and I modified it to inject water with a 3/8 line which helps mix up the kalk much better. I run it on an apex to kick off 1 in a half minutes every hour when ph is less than 8.4 and float switch is down via Top Off.

Great to know. Thanks

Switched over to 2 part and very pleased with the growth. Seems like things are growing faster thus far vs CARX.

Beautiful tank, yes keep an eye on salinity as I had a mini tank crash while I was away on vacation. Now back to Cal rx.

why the switch from reactor to dosing pumps? I am always curious to see why this happens on large systems?

Well it was a big experiment but as soon as I switched my CARX my alk dropped to the low six within a day or so. I had to switch on the CaRX. The dosing pumps could not keep up with demand.

The goal was to minimize the CO2 in the system as I had my CARX at full tilt.

Yes, I am moving.. RC has been asking me to run TOTM for the last year but I never had time which I now regret. I have been parting out for the last few weeks.

Its been a great run but moving on to other hobbies but will still keep my hands wet with a smaller tank!

You're ill, overcome by the complexities of the move. But don't despair! This madness will pass in time, and you will be back. Oh yes, and we will be waiting for you. :)
