Tdo instead of live food?

Sometimes you get some larva to survive on dead feeds, but the survival rate is rather dismal if any do make it. It is possible to go straight from rotifers to Oto and skip brine shrimp nauplii, but skipping the rotifers never works well.

+1 what bill said.

The thing is fry are instinctively responding to movement. They have a very limited field of vision. When something happens to pass directly in front of them, less than a body-length away, they pounce. As the TDO sinks, some fry may eventually bump into it. But it doesn't take the place of rotifers.

Rotifers are easy. You'll be changing a bucket once a week, that's about it.

+2 and I work for Reed Mariculture :)

Dropping BBS shrimp and going straight to TDO or OTO does indeed result in less mortalities and less cull from what has been reported to us.

You just cannot escape using live rotifers for clownfish.

I skipped bbs for the most part and it worked out fine. Just added Oto A (didn't try the tdo) starting at about day 4, and kept rotifers in the tank for the first couple of weeks just to make sure they were all eating.
