Tds

Jake's annoucement about his new water filter (how's it working for you Jake?) got me thinking that I hadn't shown mine much love recently and I've been doing a lot of water changes. I hooked up the tds meter.

That's what I'm talking about! ZERO tds. Let it flow!

I'm going to hold off on membrane and cartridge replacement.

How does an incoming reading of 172 compare with others in the county? I'm on Petaluma city water. Can you say chloramine?

I'm on petaluma city and it is 120-130 in the day and 130-140 at night. anyone else have a differance in day and night?

I haven't noticed a difference, but honestly I haven't paid that much attention to time of day in regards to tds. I'll keep an eye on it.

I'm wondering why you have lower tds when we're on the same water supply (right?)??

Ironically, my tds out has jumped up to 9. Not a crime, but no longer 0. I replaced my filter media (sediment filter, chloramine absorbing carbon, DI resin) and still 9. I think my RO membrane is on the way out. Oh well. It's been a trooper. It's still filtering more than 95% of my incoming tds.

I'm getting a RO membrane rinsing attachment so I can rinse off the RO membrane intermittently and extend the life of my next membrane.

yep same water you might want to check BRS they have full replacement kits cheaper than anywhere else i have seen mine will be here tomrrow.

Wow. How much is your water filter able to remove?

I've heard water from wells can have a lot of tds but yours sounds high from a municipal source.

I have a Typhoon 3 and after only the RO the TDS is 11. After the DI it is at 0 :) I have only ran it for maybe 50 gallons so far, it will be interesting, (or scary), to see how long the membranes last!
