that was cool. I love tank vids. When I get my brown algae issue straightened out, I am going to start posting vids too. It's like getting to visit someone's reef without the travel! :D

Micki, been following your thread and just wanted to say you and your family are in our prayers... hang in there, like I know you are- LOVE the video and the music w/it. I had to go to Limewire and download that song- :)

First off I just wanted to say I hope you son is doing ok.

I have just read this whole thread from the start (damn its now 5am!) and it was great seeing how you set everything up. I'm currently in the planning stages of setting up my first SW system (90g) and there are some excellent ideas in here that I'm going to borrow :)

I love the "sump room". Sadly I barely have enough space to fit the 90g in with a 10g sump. I keep trying to convince my house mates that we really dont need a TV and funiture in the lounge but they dont seem to be buyng it :)

Anyway just wanted to say great job, going to watch the video now and then go to sleep!!

TJ thank you, I tought the song was pretty cool, I'm glad you liked it. Sometimes it's just nice to just get a way and veg with the tank and some music. :)

xxBarneyxx, Thank you, WOW! I'm not sure I could read this whole thread like that! :) Feel free to borrow any ideas and avoid any of my mistakes along the way! When you get started post a link on this thread so we can all follow along with your progress. I'm really fortunate to have the sump room. It's nothing I planned or even thought about when I had my 55. It just sort of "happened" when we decided to start the 125. Tell your house mates that furniture and TV are so over rated! :D

I'll post an update to my son's condition in the next post.

Update on my Son: When I was in Florida my husband had to take him to ER again. That was the longest he had gone in between visits. I think it was 3 1/2 weeks. We have been to Ohio State a few more times since I last posted anything. He also had a sweat chloride test (a test to see if he has cystic fibrosis) which was negative. On August 16th they did another bronchoscope at Ohio State. They couldn't believe the amount of fluid that came out of his lungs. They said the second they put the scope in it just kept coming out. The Dr. said he was beginning to wonder if it was even going to stop! The mucus was very thin and frothy and no plugs which is a good thing. However, I'm concerned because he was still on antibiotics from being in ER and I'm thinking it could possibly mask what the infection is and make the mucus seem different than it normally would be. On August 23 we went back to Ohio State and he had a swallowing study done to see if he is aspirating. That test showed he is not aspirating so that isn't the problem. That was both good news and bad news. Good that he isn't aspirating and bad because we still don't know what's causing his problems. So... We go back to Ohio State on September 6th to see the pulmonoligist and see where we go from here. I'm hoping they don't say they can't figure out why he is producing so much mucus in his lungs. They did say in the beginning that is a possibility. They hoped that because it came on so sudden they would be able to find an answer. From what they said before if there is no answer that would most likely put him on the lung transplant list much sooner. I'm praying that sooner is actually later. :)

I am so glad I found your thread!

I just read it all and I am humbled by your courage and perseverance. The incident with the "Dr." had me fuming. I am glad you stood your ground; first getting him an appointment and in the second instance when you pointed out the error of the specialist's ways.

I am saddened that your son continues to face lung challenges. My thoughts are with you and yours as all of you find the path through that difficult forest. Thankfully, your new "guide", the Doc (who is a credit to his degree, imo) at OSU, seems to have the best in mind for your son.

Now, on to the tank stuff! The vid was great and I agree with jnarowe; vids are incredible, simulating an actual visit! The main divider tank is simply stunning!

Best wishes!

Token, Wow, again I can't believe another one has read the entire thread! Thank you for your kind words. We've had to pretty much "pave" our way with Russell for his entire 23 years. I don't mind I just sometimes feel bad for him. You would think he would get to a point of wanting to say forget it but he never does, he just keeps plugging along. OSU has been WONDERFUL!!! Not only with their expertise but there caring attitude in general. They have more than accommodated us not only with interpreters but the Dr.'s go above and beyond to make sure Russell is getting what he needs as well as making sure we all understand what is going on. We are definitely in the right place.

About the tank :) Thanks! I always wanted a divider tank. I love being able to see every nook and crannie. I'm not sure how the fish feel about that though. :D

I need to make a video of my 150 FO tank. I think the reef is more exciting right now but I still enjoy my bigger guys too. :)

For anyone interested... New Update: I took Russell back to Ohio State yesterday. The Dr. said all the off the wall cultures from the scope take over a month to grow so we don't have those results yet, but at the 2 week mark they are still negative. He then said all the other cultures came back negative except 1 fungus that apparently is so common the lab couldn't guarantee it even came from his lungs. They said it could have been in the air and landed on the specimen cup when they transferred it to the plate. However given that Russell is still having so many problems he wants to go ahead and treat him as if he has the fungus. He said if he takes the antifungal antibiotic and doesn't have the fungus it won't hurt him. He doesn't feel like we can let it go just in case. He will be on that medication for 6-8 weeks. He has officially given him the diagnosis of emphysema. He still thinks it's most likely a result of his prematurity and his lung damage at that time. Also, his pulmonary functions test came back terrible. He said he is almost to the crippling lung stage. He will also start pulmonary rehab which is to help him build up his pulmonary function. The Dr. can't believe he is only 23 and is dealing with this. His hope is that he does have the fungus and that is what's causing all of the excess mucus, however he said we also need to be prepared that even if this is what he has it still may not be causing the excess mucus. I then asked what if we can stop the excess mucus problem what do we do from here? He said we most likely will be looking at a lung transplant within the next 5 years. He said "maybe 10 but he really thinks more like 5. I don't think he realizes how sick he really is. In fact to look at him he doesn't look even look sick unless he is having one of his episodes. We go back to Ohio State in mid October.

how many fish where in ur 90 and can u name them all please

I'm sorry, I never had a 90.

I hope so. It's got to be very tough after so many years of dealing with problems. Our son was IVF and was a premee by more than a month. I can empathize with your struggle.

I wish these struggles would finally stop so you can enjoy life with your family again. Health can be such an ordeal, and there are many times that I thankfully thought to myself about my son's luck in not contracting any illnesses as well as myself.
