Oh Micki--know that prayers continue for Russell. It's great to hear that his vest is working so well for him.
Will pray for your mom. When my husband had his HA last Sep, when I walked him into the ER I told them he was having a ha--and he was.
I plan on telling them the same thing no matter what his symptoms (sob or tightness in chest) and tell them he has a history. The response we got was immediate and I mean STAT care.
And I would expect the exact same response when I take him again if I have to.
It may be a little white lie, but then it may be the real thing. And I would rather be safe than sorry later.
For the $$$ they charge, I say get the full monte when you walk in there. Thats their JOB!
Hugs to you and Russell. Prayers that your mom is doing better today.
Rita

Micky,
Just finished reading the 38 pages of your thread. was doing a few pages everyday for the last weeks till it got very upsetting and I was coming back just to make sure everything is good in the last page before continuing to read where I was.
I worked in healthcare for 10 years in Nuclear Medicine (doing those VQ scans among other studies) and I was alway s amazed with the courage that parents with sick children have. Human nature is really amazing. One of the major points in taking my decision to leave work in the hospital was not being able to see more sick babies especially when we were waiting for our baby to come. I spent many sleepless nights imagining the worst that never existed just because I saw what the parents and children went through at hospitals. I really respect you for what you did and I pray for your son to prove the docs wrong again and for your mother to recover.
I understand the reason to bring the tanks down however at hard times after I do some prayers I found great comfort in looking at the tank and thinking happy thoughts or jsut meditating so I really tell you keep the tank even with minimal maintenance it'll always make it. Mine did make it for 3 years when I was away but each time I visited home It was a comfort to look at it. Please keep us posted on your sons condition and know that you and your family are in my prayers.

Hi everyone, I'm sorry I haven't given any updates recently. First of all I want to thank all of you for your support and prayers. It's really amazing!!!

My Mom came home last week. Apparently she was allergic to one of her new medications. They Dc'd that and started a new one. She continues to use an inhaler which is some concern for me. I guess we will ride this out and see what happens. She didn't look good at church yesterday. Her ankles and stomach were very swollen. I finally convinced her to at least call to see if her Dr. was on call. As it turns out he was! She talked to him and he started her back on her diuretic every other day. I haven't talked to her yet today to see how she is doing but I'm hoping no news is good news.

Russell is doing GREAT!!! His vest seems to be working and he doesn't use oxygen at all during the day now! If all goes well he wants to move back to his house next weekend! I'm a little mixed emotion about that but I think it's a good thing. We are almost finished with our other son's upstairs remodeling and will be starting to work on the outside of Russell's house. So we will be there a lot which should make for a better transition (at least for me :) )

Great news Micki! I'm sure it will be so hard for you to let Russell go back home, but it will be good for him. My heart goes out to you now, I know the "what if's" will be hard, but that's great news on him and no O2. I hope he continues to do well.

Good news on your Mom too, the Dr. seems to be on the right track with that. It's so good to see good news here :)

Just a quick update. Russell has been doing much better! He moved back to his house last weekend. We go back to Ohio State to see the Dr. next month. If he continues this "good" pattern we won't be doing anything other than watching him. He doesn't have to use oxygen much at all during the day any more but has to use it all night or any time he sleeps. He did give us a scare on Thursday. He lifted a box on Wednesday and had been in pain ever since. The Dr. thinks he might either have a small hernia or possiblly tore something in that area. He is on an anti inflamitory and seems to be doing much better. The thought of surgery just about sent me over the edge! I don't think his lungs would be able to handle surgery. My Mother continues to be in atrial fib and will have cardioversion next week to hopefully put her heart back in normal rhythm. Other than that, we are almost finished with the upstairs remodeling of our other sons house! Then back to Russell's house to bring in dirt and plant grass then finish putting on the porch and deck. By the time fall gets here we "might" be done with everything. At least I hope so.

My tanks are still up and going but very ignored right now. I was topping off the FO tank the other day and forgot about it and let the water run for over 15 hours! Needless to say we had water every where and the tank is now in "hypo Salinity" mode. Everyone seems to be doing fine. I'll be bringing the salinity up slowly. Maybe in time I'll be able to focus on more tank information and even take some pictures! :eek1:

sounds like good news and I hope it stays that way

curious ---did you measure how far the salt water actually went down in the FO tank?
look forward to seeing more pics

Thanks capn_hylinur. Yes, the salinity went to 12. I normally keep it around 25. They seem to be fine even the eel was good.

Glad everyone is doing better. I'd get that salinity back up as soon as you can.

Melev, I would think some of the inverts would have been affected by that low salinity----I asking here;)
and maybe some of the bacteria in the tank

If so I would suggest careful monitoring of ammonia levels for the next while

Since it was labeled FO, I'm thinking there were no inverts. However, the bacteria might have taken a hit, and thus it would be wise to watch water parameters for now.
