The "armitagei" of the Pacific... one beautiful hybrid I've waited for forever!
Hey guys, I've received some amazing fish this year and as always I'm backed up with sharing them... life with a stressful job, kids, a wife, and over 1000 gallons! One fish I've wanted forever is the fish shown below... Apolemichthys trimaculatus (the flagfin angel) is a beautiful and fairly common fish in the trade that is by far the most widely distributed of the Apolemichthys, being found from South Africa to the Central Pacific... in South Africa the fish hybridizes with A. kingi, in the Indian Ocean it hybridizes with A. xanthurus (known until the 1990s as Apolemichthys armitagei before being recognized as a hybrid), and in the Pacific it hybridizes with the beautiful A. xanthopunctatus (the goldflake angel). First I will share a grainy video taken by my good friend William Crook out in Hawaii... the first part of the video shows a bunch of typical large (~6") goldflakes... then you see a yellow fish come into the frame... WHAT A FISH!

And at last in my hand... this fish passes the wife test! My armitagei honestly is a muddied trimaculatus, but this fish is AMAZING! Check it out!:celeb3:
