The Austrian Drop Off taken over by Acroporas

Just in time for 2017.

That snail in the Anthias pit is loving life in that last photo, lol.

EDIT: after giving things a second look, it seems all your fish like the deep end of the pool! I guess if the tang chooses to live in the 24x24" section it's not technically Tang Police jurisdiction.

Great to see the tank colorful again even if has lots of green... ;-)
Good luck for this rebuild.
thanks! yes things are looking up... i just need to be patient

Hey buddy, looks great. Congrats, looking forward to seeing this new 2017 tank :) Cheers mate!
thanks buddy! yes i can´t wait to see how it will evolve over the next couple of weeks

Can't wait to see it grow in.
me too thanks :bounce1:

thanks buddy! yes but all the fish are taking trips up to the shallow area... but especially for the Anthias this seems to be more of there natural are of life!

Cheers

Hi Flo,

Since you are rebuilding can you give information about water care that you are/planning to follow.
I've start dosing AF additives and the result was a disaster, but we all know that's reefing life so I really would like to have more detailed information.
TIA

Looking great Flo, definitely going to evolve into something veeerrryyy special!
thanks Dom! man i hope so too!!

hey!
what disaster? what happened?
i am going to run this tank just like the one before full Aquaforest...
in the morning Pro Bio S and Np Pro
and evening every second alternating ABEV...
also my Vertex reactor with Zeo/Carbon/Phos

Cheers
Flo

I've started with that same recipe except the zeo and carbon. I have a lot of LR and siporax+matrix.
I started the product dosing by pairs and giving 1 week after introducing the next set. After a 2 weeks starting the Pro bio S and NP Pro strange things started to happen. PO4 and NO3 started to rise and coral colors started to fade to grey and the the bleaching happen turning large pieces into white over the night. I stop the dosing (was 5 drops for 500ltrs each) and the bleaching hurricane started to slow down.
I really don't know what happen but 3 weeks after stopped dosing the PO4 and NO3 are at 0,25 and 20-30... KH 9, Mg 1200 and Ca 400... salt is at 1.025 and temp it's ok.
As per now I've lose about 20 acro, 8 poci, 2 stylo, 1 Fungia, 1 coral that I don't recall the name but has blue skeleton, 1 Favia favites is dying... a real nightmare.
That's why I was asking.

wow that sounds like a complete nightmare... sorry to hear mate!!

but my plan for the beginning is to go with half the dose most of the time and see what happens... if i am not happy i will go up but for now i will test half the dose!!

but i have read that some people experienced same problems as you....

i really hope your tank is coming back!!

Cheers

Honestly what matters is the sps I *can* see looks happy, healthy, and colorful. Algae comes and goes my friend, your little biotope is adjusting to the change of scenery.

Hi Flo.
Sorry to hear about the problems.
Rebuilds are always problematic, but sometimes we can't avoid it.

About the photos, I love the six line wrasse....it have a wonderful pattern of color. Unhappily, mine became berserk....and harass the other fishes in the tank.

Regards,

Alex
