The Austrian Drop Off taken over by Acroporas

Thanks Flo!
25cm sounds good! I was hoping I could raise it a bit so I can get a good top-down view without it spilling too much light on the floor. My GF hates that. :P She also hates noise... that is why we have more equipment in common:
Scheduled to arrive this Friday: Both the light AND a new skimmer: BK double cone 180 with RD3 pump :D:D:D (Now, I am officially broke)
It will replace a 2 week old Nyos Quantum(!) I bought that one because of the "silent operation" hype, but my... it is simply too loud for a living room tank. Will be interesting to do a decibel comparison when the BK arrives.

I will let you know for sure if I have any issues with the lamp. I love playing around with gadgets though, so I do not think it will be too much of an issue.

so it seems like we have way more in common then we both thought :D

my gf also hates the light spill and the noise...
i am broke too because i ordered a MP40QD for the drop
and i too love playing around with gadgets... :D

keep me posted or link me your build thread!

Cheers,
Flo

I have not started a build thread yet because the tank is brand new and I started with dry rock; it will still be quite a few months before I add any corals. Figured the thread would be boring without any colors.

Got two MP40WQD myself. ;)
Just a heads-up: My GF was not happy with them the first few days. I would say they were roughly as loud as the first generation MP10 I had on my old tank. I had heard they would quiet down after a while though and just ran them at low settings. After a few days, they got very quiet. Some people have reported the need for a run in period, others have said it was quiet from the start. Both mine required this. Just something to keep in mind if you get disappointed in the noise level when you first turn it on.
I also have a Vectra return pump. This one is louder than the MP40s now. (All pumps are running at roughly 70-80%)

Thanks Flo!

I have a Nyos Quantum 160 and cannot hear it.
Had a Deltec SC1456 before which made more noise.
Intersting to see (hear) how th BK will perform.

all i can say for now is that the BK is really really quiet and the body doesn´t vibrate at any rate i can meassure... didn´t expect that and i´m more than happy with it so far!

Fan-bloody-tastic Flo :inlove: you should be very proud of your reef and how good everything is looking! That colour and growth change in the progression shots is really impressive too! Good to hear the AF is working for you :)

color change surprised me as well!! :bounce3:

Just read through the thread and I must say the dropoff looks awesome! Great colors and growth. I think my favorite part are the acros hanging over the drop. I think when those mature further the look will be spectacular. Keep up the good work!

The amount of jealousy over your ability to lounge on the couch and watch that glorious tank is all to real!!:lolspin: :inlove: :eek1:

thanks Dom! I´m happy... my gf most of the time... but I´m planning on changing the light scedule and get me a more blue mix... see if i survive that idea :lolspin:

Colors are looking wonderful Flo, the drop off acro placement looks awesome and will only get better with age and growth :)

Only cool acro keepers can do this Flo ;)

Amazing tank. What's your opinion on your Pac Sun Hybrid?

thanks Jay!

for now i am very happy... sure in the far off sides of the tank there is a bit of lack in light... but i still have to rearagne some of the LPS and SPS...

looking back the dead table acro wasn´t the best choice for keeping SPS... :lolspin:
