The Beginning of an exciting journey 115gallon Tank

Hi guys =)

My name is Mathias and I´m from Germany. In the moment I´m 20 years old and
a student of economics and politics with a spezialisation on Asian countries.

At first I have to say "Thank´s to all of you guys!" This community is awesome!

This will be my first saltwater aquarium! I´m really excited to get started on this long and beautiful journey.

What do I have?

It´s an Aqua Medic Percula 120 saltwater Aquarium (120x60x60cm second hand for 200bucks, quite cheap for Germany =)).
For lighting I use the Aqua Medic Ocean Light with two 150w mhs plus two
arctinic blue t5s.

To get some flow I bought a second hand Tunze 6045. It´s small, but I hope it´ll do the cycling time till christmas =) And maybe Santa will bring something new ;)

My protein skimmer will be the Aqua Medic Percula 120 (same name like the tank ). But I´d like to upgrade it to on of H&S.

The problem ist, due to the technic part in the back of the tank there is not much space for additional technic.

I´m going to use 5kg of death rock and 20kg live rock as decoration.

Start point will be hopefully around next week =)

The tank is going to be a mixed reef tank, even though my aim is to make it a sps/lps tank one day =)

I hope many of you guys will be participating my journey and give lots of tips
and critics =)

Thanks everyone =)
Have a nice evening
Greetings
Mathias

@Reef264: Thanks for the good wish! :)

Today I'm going to order the RO unit.
It will be a small one with 190l per hour clean water usage.
I guess it will be here maybe on Friday, so I'm going to order
the live rock for Monday or Tuesday:)
I'm really excited to start :) to cover the ground I'm going to
use aragonite sand 0.5-o.8mm.
Do you guys think 20lbs will be enough for a non DSB ground?

Greetings
Mathias

Hi guys =)

Yesterday was the big day! After some days of restless waiting I got my
ordered Life Rock!

After I did the smell and visual check, i started creating my reef.
I used 40lbs of Rock but I may at another 5 or 10lbs.

All in all I really like it, but I figured some more space in the height would be nice, for some sps corals later on.

I hope you like it =)

Greetings from Germany
Mathias

Good morning =)

Here are the latest pics, the tank is cycling well! As you see I got the first algae already
in there, I hope in the next week the green ones will show up, so that I can start testing my water and maybe adding a clean up crew in the end of November.

Greetings
Mathias

Good morning =)

It´s unbelievable, this night we already switched to winter time, so fast as always.

But here is what I´d like to show you =)

Friday I got my first "cleaning crew", it includes 20 hermit crabs and
a Mespilia Globulus. Amazing animals =)

I also got my very first piece of coral, I´m really proud of all of the animals =)

Here are some pics and in the next post I´ll show you my animal wish list =)

Hope you guys like it and will help me out with the name of the coral (My guess is Sacrophyton?) and some tips concerning my wish list =)

And now my wish list =)

Fish:

2x Amphiprion Percula f/m

3x Pseudochromis fridmani f/m/f

later on in a year or so: 2x Splendidus Synchiropus f/m

I´d love to have either a Chelmon Rostratus or 2 Zebrasoma Flavescens,
but I guess my tank is to small for the Flavescens?

2x Gramma Loretto f/m

2x Pterapogon Kauderni f/m

2x Labroides Dimidator

Other animals

2x Lysmata Kuekenthali f/m

2x Lysmata amboinensis f/m

1 or 2 Tridacnas

and a Percnon Gibbesi =)

That´s it =)

Talking about corals, I´d like to keep mainly Zoas, Rics, LPS and a couple of soft corals =)

Any tips for beginner friendly ones is much appreciated =)

Greetings from winter Germany =)

Good morning =) I hope you all enjoyed Halloween!

Here´s a little update on my tank=)

My Hermit crabs and the Mespillia Globulus are awesome animals!
They ate 90% of the hair algae (especially the Globulus). They are interesting
and beautiful animals and every beginner should get them for his or her
tank!

I also picked up some green Zoas from the back of my sea urche, I mounted
them and the started growing soon =)

Greetings
Mathias
