The Borbonious Anthia

I love the blotched anthia so much that I bought one 5 years ago a put it in my 110. It did well for a couple years and then one weekend I left town and my timer failed. I had a 72 hour photo period and lost just about every delicate fish in the aquarium include some corals.

I would love to put another one in a smaller tank, a 55 gallon corner. Would anyone on here advise against this? Anyone with experiences with this species? currently the 55 gallon tank has a baby regal, 2 clowns and a mystery wrasse. So there is plenty of room for a few more tank mates.

We kept a trio for a several years...really great fish (they don't go postal on each other the way many anthias do). Once they were QT'd and settled, they bunked with our dwarf lionfishes, small scorps and waspfishes in a std. 60 gal with no problems. In fact, they learned how to eat off of a feeding stick when we fed the preds...they were so quick, you really had to watch them or they'd snag the food.

I have mine in a 50 gallon reef for nearly 2 years. No problems =)

I had one for just over a year. It was in a 120g tank. It killed 1 clown and 3 fairy wrasses. After that i sold it

I have mine in a 120 gallon tank as well. I think you could get away with it.

I just got a couple a month or so ago and they are doing great. No aggressive behavior so far.

I think they'll be ok. They don't really swim a whole lot. Once the find their spot they're pretty stationary

This fish gets very large for an anthias. Seeing a 5" one in person is quite a sight. Reminds me of a bulldog.

Hell, they eat these things over in asia. I bet they are not 250 a pop either.

I know. I was going to put one in my 90 gallon until I saw how big they got. I guess the only saving grace with putting them in a small tank is that they don't move very much.

We had some "issues" with the tank, and lost a few fish, the anthias included. I ended up tearing that tank down, actually. After we moved, that tank never "settled down" properly.
