The care and keeping of mini carpets?

I don't know if this has been covered before but I have been offered an awesome deal on mini-carpet anemones. I declined because I don't have they 14 g aquapod set up yet and it has not cycled. I think they are beautiful and amazing creatures and was thinking of dedicating the aquapod to these. My lighting for the tank is a 70 W MH Sunpod with a 14K bulb. My questions are is this sufficient lighting. Are mini carpets like other anemones in that they usually do better in an established tank? Would appreciate tips! Thanks
 
sept/oct issue. available in old fashioned paper and online if you are a subscriber.

i just pulled out that issue and there is no minicarpet article. it must be in one of the other mags i get.

the gist of the article was that they are easier to keep than full sized carpets. i will have to look thru the other mags i get. it is a current issue of one of them.

Coral mag is still the best.

LOL, I guess I should have scrolled down. I went through the my entire magazine looking for the article about mini carpets.:twitch: I agree Coral magazine rocks. The article about probiotics is very interesting. Would be curious to know which magazine the article about mini carpets is in. Keep us posted. Thanks!
 
mini nems require the same water parameters and lighting as most nems do. they also split fairly rapidly ive heard. although the maxi mini nems dont split as fast and are a little bigger

Thanks for the information! I love your avatar by the way. I had a clown goby but had to get rid of him because he was damaging the sps. Yes from what I read minicarpets require similar care as regular nems. I would think a dedicated tank would be best!

a dedicated aquarium is definitely not a necessity for Stichodactyla tapetum (do a Google using that name) and one should not generalize about the care of different anemone species as care requirements run the gamut (from extremely difficult to keep alive to hard to kill).

If anyone knows the magazine article reefski was referring to please post.
 
I have kept the mini-carpets,and are fairly easy to take care of.They will split often,I gave one to a fellow reefer and he has got about 20 now in alittle over 1 1/2 years.
 
i just got one two weeks ago. not hard to keep at all, but will do much better in an established tank. it could thrive under anything from powercompact to mh. i am currently running 6 t5 bulbs. it stays at where i put it originally, and hasnt bothered any of my sps. they stay very very small, with most reaching only 4-5 inches wide. u could find them online at liveaquaria.com or extremecorals.com. they run anywhere from $20-100 depending on colors.
