The Georgia Aquarium (VERY Photo Intense)

Wow. Wow and more wow!:bounce1:  I love public aquaria. I've been to the Baltimore and Myrtle Beach ones and loved them. I'd go nuts at this one. My wife and daughter would never get me out of there!!!!

Did ya see any blennies?:D

that is very cool i don't know how someone could think otherwise just the fact that they have acrylic that thick is amazing

Do they have time limits while there besides the business hours. Can you spend all day there doing whatever you want? They have sleep overs here at the seattle aqaurium I wonder if they will end up doing that there eventually?! That would be so awesome!

You would never get me outta there either, its like diving but not getting wet or worrying about what might be around you that you can't see to shock the daylights outta ya!

Truly amazing!

Truly amazing!

That is incredible.
I have to go there, I am already checking up on plane tickets.

Wow, a few responses due.

intenseimage: You won't regret it!
spazz: Thanks for the encouragement.
JmLee: The chupakabra gives me the creeps! BTW, do you draw comics? :)
Chupakabra-King: See above. And thanks for the compliments
Hypsoblennius: Here's a picture that almost certainly HAS TO HAVE a blenny in it. Somewhere.

Kitteness: their scheduling was different than I've ever seen. They have time "windows" for entrance, almost like an appointment. However, once you're in, you can stay until they close, like I did. Before I went, I called and asked the ticket person how much time would be necessary. She said "You can make it through everything in a couple hours." So I asked what was realistic for someone who loves this stuff, she said "Oh, you'll be here all day. 8 hours won't be enough!" She wasn't far from wrong. I want to go back again.
UrbanSage: Again, thank you, too.

wow, that reef tank is so cool. Wouldn't it be cool to have this built into the master bedroom? I wonder if I can talk the wife into it. Maybe I can get her to work a second job to pay for it too  I guess I'm pushing it a bit. But, I'll say it again...Wow!

Thanks jw for this thread and sharing these pics. I've been reviewing it over and over. Still haven't found the blenny but yes, he's gotta be in there:D

So there WAS a turtle in there!! I swore they were teasing me! That tank filled with powder blues and glass sculptures was really odd, for sure!

Thanks for filling the gaps, Haitwun!

Simply amazing! Someone in another thread posted a pic of the skimmer that they use.....its the size of a car and they use more than one!

Really like the arrowana picture....think I saw some arapaimas in there.

Post more pictures if you get the chance!

wicked. love it. thanks for sharing the pic's - great advertising for them - not that it looks like they need it with the number of people waiting in line!!!

Thanks. Lots of work, but Super classy!

Just curious, I am very intruiged by acrylic that thick. Does anyone know of a link that highlights the construction of this project? (I always watch the extra DVD on how they made the movies I have enjoyed)

I made the trip there this weekend, it was well worth the money spent. I made the trip from Orlando fl. 6 hour drive just to see the place. It was worth every dollar. Words just cant explain when you walk around a corner and you see a viewing window 60 ft wide and 30 ft tall. Amazing, you sit there with your jaw on the ground and the people behind you wanting to know why you stopped walking. And when they see it there doing the same thing you just did. Then your sitting there and your starting to get everything together inside you and you see this 8 ft whale shark swim by like hes in the ocean. Amazing. Hes only what would be a teenager. They grow to about 45 ft long. CRAZY. lol. Thats just the main tank, you still have 4 other parts of the Aquarium to see. You can easly spend an hour or so in each part of the aquarium, theres just so much to see. Well sorry I wrote so much. I cant stress enough how kool the place is, everyone should at least go there once. I know im planning another trip up there cause im sure I missed something.

Really nedd to visit the aquarium. who knew the lines where soo long though. Thats really great for the hobby and for the worlds oceans hopfully more people will get intrested and get involved in conservation efforts.
thanks for all those pics.

I mentioned before... the lines moved shockingly quick. It took less than an hour to get in the building, and that's after the line wrapped around the block then through all those switch backs. They were also wanding everyone with metal detectors, and they still pulled it off that fast. I wouldn't even worry about it.

And lusenet2, when I was walking through the tunnel, I was just amazed, staring everywhere, and not making it through the tunnel very fast. One of the staff guides came up to me and said "This ain't nothin! Wait till you go around the corner. Your jaw will drop and you'll think 'Oh my god!'" And he was exactly accurate, I don't know how he called it. I walked around the corner, my jaw dropped and I thought "Oh... my... god! This is awesome!" :)

It's great to see so much interest from the public---a few reefers are born...not to mention people willing to vote for clean beaches.
