The Georgia Aquarium (VERY Photo Intense)

No more rays?! Wow, interesting....

As for the SPS, I've actually received some feedback from GA about this thread, and they mentioned how they're learning more and more about keeping a reef this size every day. They recognize it's going to take a few years for the reef to grow in, and they're willing to take the time, so it's done right.

I'd love to see this place in a couple mroe years. Should be impressive.

The rays were there when I went a few weeks ago. And the reef 'tank' will definately be incredible in a few years when the coral grows in.

I was there April 20th & no rays...........they must have had them out for some reason. There wasn't a single one in there.

I'm sure the reef tank will grow over the years, but as of now there were very few sps species in there. Just looking at the display it looks like it needs more light. It will be interesting how it progresses. I'd love to go back about 3-4 years from now & see the changes.

Wow, I had heard about the Georgia aquarium but had no idea. Your pictures are amazing- the rays are beautiful. I've got one of your pictures of the school of them with the whale shark from the first page as my desktop background at work. It fills me with peace every time I look at it. Lots of people asking about it as well! Really great photos! I need an excuse to go to Georgia!

Now that you've won thread of the month, would it be all right if I added a couple shots i've taken while there?

YeahitsK, thanks for the compliments!

VillageIdiot, I still say that clown picture is reversed! :)

And certainly post photos! It's not my aquarium! ;) I'd love to see more myself.

lol, it could very well be reversed... no idea why i would've done that... i'm going back this summer, so i'll take and post some more shots then... :-)

no offense at all, man, i'm just wondering why in the world i reversed it in PP, i remember the clown being situated the way you have it... :-)

i must've thought it looked better coming from the left...

anyway, any plans to return?

The reject pictures are as beautiful as the great ones;)
more pictures please.
We checked a few days ago about driving there. Kind of a long trip but will see about flying in for a few days.
It looks like a must see aquarium.
Thanks to all for taking the time to share the pictures of the place here.

here is admission prices.

Price with tax
Adult $22.75
Child (age 3-12) $17.00
Senior (age 55+) $19.50

these prices are CHEAP! shedd aquarium in chicago is more expensive to get in. this would be worth every penny to see! what a bargan.

you call those pics rejects. ya right! those are as awesome as the the pics you posted. so i think you should post all the rejects. your just too woried about your tallent as a photographer. you take awesome pictures. your a credit to to the aquarium. they should call you up and fly you out there for free just to take more pics and post them here. it will increase sales and boost the hipe about the aquarium.

thanks for all the hard work on this thread.

Unfortunately, because they had quickly approaching deadline to open, they did not quarantine their animals before releasing them into their exhibits.
Result?
This photo shows how every single one of their crimson snappers have hole in the head.

that is sad but they will figure it out and get them healthy again.

does anyone have pictures of the back areas? it would be cool to see some of the equiptment they have there. along with quarinteen systems?
