I see...

So the Nitro Propellers are better than dumas?

so I get better flow from a Nitro than a dumas on a 1200?

What about these propellers??

could I use two of these on a MJ1200??

Or these?

Or would two of these be the best bet?

You better make a few of these if your going to use them in this project of yours.

LOL! yeah, I plan on making 2 or 3 or 4 of them!!!
Probably 4 of them on wavemakers!

I really really really CANT WAIT!!! :)

this is soooo exciting... makeing powerheads... LOL, I should go into the business...

I can hear myself now!
"wait... what size did you say?... 1.5inch.. "oh ok".. ... ... wait... what size did you say? 3 and a 3/16th what?... LOL!

Whoa dude... Slow down before you hurt yourself. :)

1. The 1.25" Nitro prop has slightly better pitch than the 1.25" Dumas hence better flow.

2. You CAN use this
http://h1071118.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=TRA3834
but you will have to drill out the brass insert inside

3. This one http://h1071118.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=ABC55020 looks to be just like the Nitro prop.

4. This one is a no no for obvious reason it's BRASS

You don't want anything metallic in your tank unless it's titanium or stainless steel otherwise you will risk corosion and possibly contamination in saltwater.

Yes I was just referring to the fact that it had 3 blades!:)

SO out of #2 and #3 that you listed what one could you do 2 of in a mj1200 and which one would put out more flow for both?

Im thinking #2... what do you think?

MJ600...

MJ600...

I guess you can only do this mod on a mj900 or 1200? I looked at the impeller assy. on my MJ600 and it doesnt seem to be the same layout. Is there a different way to mod the mj600?

The MJ400 and MJ600 impellers are a bit trickier.

1. You have to cut off the impeller blades and trim the whole thing down so that the impeller head will fit into the flexible airline snugly.

2. Then you have to glue the modded impeller so that it stays inplace on the magnet. Epoxy works great for this.

3. Attach the rigid tubing as you would on the MJ900 and MJ1200.

Thanks

Thanks

for the info. I was a bit bummed last night after I got all the parts and went to start, only to find the impeller was different.
Ill check that thread.

Re: Thanks

Man I didn't realize this either... I almost bought a 400 for this.. but don't really feel much like farting around with a different setup. Hey D... In your opinion, how much velocity will I lose going from two props to one.. I want to add another stream, so I have another 900 but it would be too much for my 55. Do you think 1 prop would reduce it in half? Other wise I'm going to have to find a way to diffuse it out the slots more.

IMO using a single prop will lessen the flow by about 1/3

The MJ400 and MJ600 aren't all that difficult to do really. You just have to use the existing impeller top.

Will someone please do this mod to a Mag 5 or Mag 7 pump.. While those little guys are nice, I want to see a pump that measures it's flow in:

KGPH

Here is the new dark gray SCH80 pipe I was talking about earlier. The colour almost matches the MJ body exactly
