You have no idea how long it took me to aquascape the tank because the wife didn't like the way it looked.

Just thought I would throw out a couple ideas on what I have done with my latest prototype.
First, I ordered some Seio 620 swivel mounting brackets. I then glued them onto a magnet cleaner and came up with a 100% movable in all directions, mounting solution.
I used a 1.5" PVC coupleing as the housing. I also used a 1.5" prop. The prop fits in the housing, but the flow was greatly reduced, no matter how much intake slots I made. I couldnt stand for that. So I took out the dremel, put on a round sanding drum, and took out material from the inside. This made more space between the blade tip and the edge of the housing. This increased flow so much that I couldnt tell a difference between the prop without a housing and the prop with the housing on. Im finally happy with the flow results. I stll have to measure the exact amount, but its over 2000 GPH for sure according to past tests I have done.
I still need to clean up the craftsmanship, but I finally have a working model to base the next attempt at. Im looking to make a couple more of these to finish off the lineup. This one will go behind the rockwork eventually.

Vrey cool idea with the SEIO mount. Where did you order them from? Also, do you see a problem with flipping themm over so the mod hangs below the magnet? That would get the mag/mount out of the way & the pump would be deeper.

I got the Seio mounts directly from Taam. They are not easy to order from.
You could easily flip the mount over. I chose to keep it up because I want the pump to be higher in the water and not hang down a few inches into the tank. I wanted to hide the pumps in the upper corners as much as possible. The maxi mod doesnt suck much air, so you can have it pretty close to the surface. Plus, with the ball joint, you can point it anywhere you please.
You could easily flip the mount over. I chose to keep it up because I want the pump to be higher in the water and not hang down a few inches into the tank. I just tried the Mod with my MJ 1200 using the 1.75" dumas.
I got the 3/16 hole size, but realized this is a left handed prop.
Does this matter?
It is always spinning backwards. I know i can make a stopper but usually plugging/unplugging makes it spin the right way.
This does not seem to happen with this left handed prop.
Is this the same prop you are using? I can seem to find a right handed prop @ 1.75" X 3/16 hole.

why the son of a MJ of the power head stops when its 2" below the water ???????????????? it stall...the flipping propeller it doesnt turn at alllllllllll..

I was able to make it run for a bit & this thing puts out some serious flow. I will be putting a stopper. I would say close to 3000GPH. I compared it to my seio 1100 & it is easily 3X stronger.
Are you also using the Left handed prop? I don't think tower hobbies has a right handed prop with a 3/16 shaft hole.
My coupling is approx. 2.25" long, does it make a difference if i cut it down to 1.5" like your latest one?

Most propellers sold are left handed propellers unless specifally listed otherwise. If you do use two propellers on one mod though, you HAVE to be sure that they're botht the same whether right handed or left handed. Having one right handed and one left handed would work against each other.

Where did you order the mounts? I cant seem to find it on their website. Their site sucks BTW
You have to e-mail them. They will then send you a form to fill out and mail or fax. I didnt want to do that so I ended up talking to them on the phone and ordering them that way.
If you are going to mount it to a magnet, then all you need is the swivel bracket. If you want to mount it hanging on the tank like a seio, then you need the entire mounting kit. The swivel bracket cost half as much as the entire kit. The 620 mount is the smallest and holds the maxijet perfectly.
