The jounal Nature: Interesting article re: Marine bacteria.

This reads chineese or mandarin to me. Someone needs to interpret this for the non scientific and then apply it to our hobby. Ie. does this support dsb or not ?

Generally supports.

There is a lot of scientific work on what we would call DSB's, and other people just describe as organics in sediments. Most of this work is totally ignored by the aquarium community and we are left with a hodge podge of guesstimation and nonsense. Huettels research group at the U of Florida has done excellent work directly relevant to what we do.

+1

I understand parts of the research being from a biotech background but not all. I do however like to see this type of study as it applies to the marine system in toto. There is SO much we DON'T know about ocean environments and despite some people's attestation, we really have just touched the surface in this hobby. What we know now will be nothing compared to 10 or 20 years from now.
