The journey of BOBS never ending SPS build

thank you ya'll, right now with the amount of sps I have im using up 50ml CA/MG daily. Dkh-7.2
CA-410
MG-1300

i do not test for nitrates or phosphates at all, actually, I dont even have a test kit for that, with my previous tanks i had hanna po4 kits and salifert no3 kits and i would test daily,

now i just pay attention to how long it takes myself to clean the glass, so far its takes me 3 days until the glass gets fuzzy and i would have to clean it.

UPDATE: 7/6/15

So many things has changed in this aquarium. All sps has been growing and healing very fast but i had a mishap last night.

After checking my GFO reactor i noticed a decent amount of clumping, and as well as the gfo turning grey, due to precipitation. after soaking in vinegar and cleaning it up and putting it back on, my pH decided to go from 8.15 to 8. in a matter of minutes, sadly i didnt have any buffer to raise it so it went up slowly throughout the day.

after 15 hours has past i do not see any side effects and my pH is back at 8.13. I will report back if theres any STN.(knock on wood)

My male clown has developed fin rot for some unknown reason ( maybe the femaile is bullying to much?). so the fish went in QT for 2 weeks. and now its back in the display eating like a pig.

I aquired a WXM module for my apex. Now i can set what mode and at what time i want my MP40's to be at. I will soon have my radions connected once the it reaches its peak intensity ( i am slowly raising it to 60%) i finally purchased the wide angle lens as well! but i will want to wait till everything is done

As for algae, I am trimming my cheato every other week, and there is a brownish hair-like film growing onto my rocks, maybe its time to make my CUC bigger. I am getting some coraline growth on my glass walls as well as my rocks. I must be doing it right!

My parameters has been steady since, but the addition of the monti plates and stag its been slowly declining, so I upped the dosage to 64ML daily. CA,ALK,MG is as followed : 400CA/ 7.5ALK/ 1360MG

I didnt take a photo of the red millie because he was far back, but this guy has grown pretty fast this photo you can see as well the blue tort has encrusted nicely, and the stag on the right as well

ATTENTION: sorry for the bad photos, i still have to mess with my white balance.

Wow, looking good for what, almost three months old? My new tank is about half that age, and lagging behind yours for sure!

Can you tell us about your rock? Was it dry or live? Are you growing any coralline yet?

I just went through your photos and looked at them carefully..... I am seeing a real loss in color. What are your parameters?

My coralline is taking off right now, more on the back wall, and rocks, my rocks were base rock to start with, I used muratic acid bath them.

as for my loss in color, I'm going to wait 2-3 more months and if i dont get my color back then there is a real problem, but for now, i am letting the corals sit back and let them get acclimated to the light/tank.

I keep my parameters really stable, test CA/MG/ALK daily. 7.5dKH/400CA/1360MG

I do know that i am not feeding much. 4 fishes in the tank and i feed flakes once a day. I am doing pohls extra dosing daily.

more onto that later.. but ill leave this ..

Update 7/13/15

I keep thinking to my self that my skimmer is kind-of under-rated for my tank, and i also want to feed more, but I didnt want to change anything since everything was going so well, after looking around and searching, I ended up getting a Vertex Omega 130 skimmer. i know theres been good and bad about this. but please if you have experience with this skimmer please let me know! hopefully i can have this up and running before friday! I'll update this as soon as its installed!

Corals look good to me. :) I've had an SSC encrusting for over a year now, and sometimes it has good color, but any small mistakes will brown it out. :D

I think your corals look hungry, so I'm betting the new skimmer and heavier feeding of the fish will improve color. You're getting nice growth though! I'll take growth over color in a new tank any day!

nice top down shots. corals are looking great and i love that skimmer!

Thanks for the feedback, I'm going with the tried and true method K.I.S.S. and trying to not put my hands in the tank, I actually forgot when was the last time I put my hands in the tank.. but so far the corals are growing faster and colouring up better

another thing to note, I've had Coral Virtilizer in the fridge for some time now, its not expired at all. I will start dosing 2 drops a day ( on the 2nd day already)

but for now i haven't made any changes to anything, besides changing out filter sock/cleaning skimmer cup/ and replacing GFO

I recently increased my daily dosage to 72ml daily, my upkeep is just increasing more and more, I'm not getting any precipitation on my heaters or gfo ( I was until i moved the tubes to a faster current area)

A small update for those waiting to use the skimmer, I couldn't tell myself to use this sump, knowingly that some guy with zero experience in making sumps it was also in back of my head that it might spring a leak at any giving moment, and it's always at the time you at least expect it.

So I custom made on by John at ADVANCE ACRYLIC!
