The journey of BOBS never ending SPS build

Nice! Now your skimmer and your sump will be all matchy matchy. :)

Yes! it also matches my ghetto manifold i built!

So i managed to let my wife to let me stay home and play with the tank all day:beer: I got alot of things done, new sump and skimmer is in! total gallons i used was 18 gallons total! increased the total volume to 55 gallon :spin2:

didnt have the dslr so i took a iphone picture, I am waiting till the new skimmer kicks in before shutting down the 3.5skimmer

also to say the least this millie is starting to sprout!

this is a picture i took on the 9th of July!

Small update 7/27/15

I never thought I would actually upgrade my apex JR to a full apex, until now. Technology never ends with this tank, and hopefully this will be the last of it!

So far in the last month I have upgraded my skimmer, sump, radions, and my powerheads, Hopefully by next year I will have a 120G setup :)

As with any update, the inhabitants are doing great, my coralline is taking off everywhere, Soon I will have to scrape my glass. Its starting to grow next to the sandbed because thats the area I try not to clean

Some close up's will be soon after the apex is up and running!

P.S dont mind the yellow tang :)

Very nice update!
I can hear the enthusiasm in your.. Typing. :)
That mille seems to be getting better colour as well.
Looking great!

7/28/15 FTS:

Had some time to take some good pictures with the dslr, I think they came up nicely,

What suprised me is that the tank is really young (almost 4 months in) and everything is growing in nicely!

With all the gadgets installed theres only a few more things I need to do left,
1.install Breakout box and remove tunze ATO
2.install leak detectors (2)
3.relocate live cameras

Garf Bonsai

Of all the stags I've purchased this one was just showing no signs of growth till 2 weeks ago, its encrusted on the base and growing upwards now

This red digitata is at the lowest point of the tank, and somehow its popping more red then my RP :(

This is my Red planet, maybe i should get another and place it lower and see if they like the lower light spectrum

Heres a fun fact, you can overdose dipping your montis and have the, STN, the fun part is that they can grow over their dead skeleton!

Why do they call this guy a green slimer?

I love how pink lemonade's look from top down!

This guy is my Jaw dropper, I thought I was going to loose this guy from adding to much carbon to my reactor!

Check out my hawkins, its sprouting from the base now :)

Another focused on the tips

Heres a millie that was put way in the back, Who wouldve thought this guy would sprout out instead of encrust!

My second star pupil, i love the colour this guy is putting out, also in the back of the tank!

Heres another stag thats colouring up nicely!

Another stag as well!

Happy reefing everyone

Update 8/27/15

FTS: A quick snap

Not much of an update, I haven't installed the floats nor the leak detectors yet, I have been so lazy with installing thing's I just want to look at the tank. But has far as parameters go, I am dosing 35ml of both B bionic 2 part. I had a precipitation issue but thats now resolved!

Corals beginning to touch
So one of my frags are growing fast, and its about to touch one of the encrusting frags. What should I do? Leave it and let see what will happen?

Looking back
The tank has been running for about 5 months now, 3 months with sps corals.
colour of the frags has faded over time, Im not sure if i need to supplment t5 or not. I am still debating. For a 5 month old tank, this is not bad growth. I may even dose iodine, or B- balance from zeovit

Getting Ready for a move
So my lease will be up in December, and I am unsure what will I do with the move, Moving is the toughest with sps, I want to make a game plan prior to the move, either cut the rocks and leave them encrusted 1.5 months before the move, or leave them on the rocks, But Most of the time all of my sps seem to RTN after a move.

Fish list
I always try to increase my bioload buy getting more fish, but everytime a new fish enters the tank, one either has to jump, or get bullied. I lost my male designer clown fish, possibly the female was too aggresive and jumped. but for now I might just stick with 3 fishes, if not get another male clown. and 1 wrasse

Wow its been 2 whole months

fts 10-27-15

Time flies when your lease is about to end! I found a place and I will be moving on the 1st week of November.
I will be preparing to move, so this will probably be the last update for quite some time maybe..
Update 10.27.15
Lighting
I Kind of joined the T5 club. I purchased 2 sets of the Miro t5 kit, built a canopy and installed the radion with the t5, It came out looking spectacular!

The reason to supplimenting t5 are obvious, I was not happy with the colours of my frags, after several months of waiting and messing with my radions, I took the bullet and never looking back!

Fishtank update
Since I my room will be smaller i decided to make my stand bigger, 48x18x34 in stainless steel
I still have to Paint the wood but this is what it will look like. with trims of course

The reason being is I want to put all of my equipment inside the stand and have access to all 3 sides, Hopefully in the near future I will find myself a 48x18x18 penninsula tank

Coral
I've only had the T5 setup for possibly 2 weeks, and its been a significant witch craft happening to my corals, its amazing what t5 can do! it seems like the extra light floods the tank with lighting so there isn't any shading either!

As well, these top down shots were 2 weeks ago but the rest are today's shooting, I did not have time to update ya'll!

Does anyone know why after adjusting pictures and uploading it, the final quality isnt as good as when you adjust it?

This piece is the stag in the center of the tank, its hard to capture since its growing towards the front of the glass

This millie tips are starting to get funky, I assume theres to much flow..

Heres my piece of a Red Dragon. this is actually a fast grower. TBH

Blue tip tenius

Red millie is actually sprouting out!

Red planet is getting some color back

Some top down shots!

Wow! Looking really good.
Great pe and super growth
Very nice!
There is no downside to the t5.. Other than electricity.. They will bring out so many new colours in your acros.
Sucks that you'll have to pull it down soon...

Looking good matey :)

Looking good

Tank is looking great! Loving the Hawkins Echinata!
Thanks guys, Sorry its been awhile, I haven't had time to check up on my thread!

I know it sucks, Especially when everything is coming together and smoothing out, I really hope I dont loose anything on the transfer.. It is only say.. 15 minute drive.

The last time I moved, All of my acros stn, I think it was my salt that killed them, to high of Dkh and POOF.

If you guys have any tips on moving Please let me know! I will have to place the livestock in a container before getting them into the tank as well

Tank looks great, sorry you have to move it.

I would make sure to have enough Red Sea Blue Bucket salt on hand to that mixes at 8KH to avoid any big spikes. Really nice for large water changes but I use cheaper salts for regular smaller changes.

I also keep Seachem Phosphorus on hand to dose into a new tank, especially with a new sandbed. PO4 can go to 0 and in my last tank switch I dosed it twice and didn't experience any STN or browning. Apparently new sandbeds can really soak up the PO4, even if rocks are old.

The salt is a good tip, my PO4 dosing is sketchy at best but thought I'd say something and let you decide. :D

Here's a current picture of the tank, about a month after the switch, just for reference. Acros and other SPS doing quite well, but some LPS seem less than happy. I dread tank moves / upgrades.
