My point is to represent your choice honesty..
Any other skimmer club posts hard facts on how it is better...
how do/have filters impacted your skimmer?
I think you are missing the point.
We are all very happy with this skimmer's performance after using various other skimmers. There is no need to confirm why it works so well. We don't care why. No one here is trying to sell you a LifeReef. And the skimmate produced is just one facet.

I only have 4 fish in my 120 rimless w another 35 gallon sump and I seem to get lots if brown detritus in my sump but I'd rather not use socks.
not spending 600when I already have a properly sized well performing skimmer.... But this is simple .... Compare a pinwheel skimmer properly sized vs a life reef... Can anyone do it...????+1
I am one of the those that got baited with the hype of higher air numbers and the bigger neck making a better skimmer
Rounder pick up a LR skimmer and see how you like them
My point is of objectivity...seems to me you are happy after previous grossly oversized skimmers....
nope... It is choose an appropriate skimmer for tank volume and bioload. So, what is your current air draw??? Skimmer size is ultimately air draw. The air is what makes a skimmer work.Yep, one was over sized. Isn't the common advise to go big or go home?
But is an Alpha 250 on a 350g total system volume really THAT oversized?
And again, the amount of skim wasn't my only issue with it.
Others were properly sized.
There's more to skimmer nirvana than just the amount of skim in the cup.

You tell me.... What us your current air draw compared to said vertex
Maybe this has been discussed somewhere in the 25 pages of replies but how many of you have upgraded your venturi and did it really make a difference to the foam quality/extraction?
Well.... You may not understand.... You could be proving the negative of what one may consider " overskimming "... Led has nothing to do with skimmer efficiency.Rounder.... it is simple, we've used pinwheels, you have not used a LR...
There are some pinwheels with similar design to LR but not many... funny thing is most believe those are the top pin wheel skimmers...
Now, having seen improvement in coral growth and color, darker skimmate and a set and forget water height since buying my LR 2 years ago I have no reason to even care to test air draw... so if it is that important, go buy one and test it yourself.
Efficiency is not #1 priority... that's just the typical LED defense story... 5 different LED units and a couple grand in the hole and the trusty good old T5 has me loving this hobby again... health of the tank is #1... not mathematical numbers that people theorize to be important.
