The Life Reef Skimmer Club

That could have been my problem too because when I first got the skimmer I didn't have a CaRx yet and was dosing tons of two-part. I had a thin layer of calcium precipitate all over the inside of the skimmer. As well as other areas of my sump.

There she is taking a vinegar bath. Micro bubbles galore.

I found a mess of bubble algae in the pump intake.

clugo, my apologies I think my post was confusing. I quoted it to make it easy for folks (myself included) to see your pics. Tapatalk photos are hard to see otherwise.

I agree that the 24" skimmers will have a lower bubble volume than the taller skimmers, but even so that seems like not quite what it should be. It's almost like the flow from the pump to the skimmer is restricted somehow, or there is a clog in the Venturi.

Maybe shoot that pic to Jeff, see what he says?

Low bubble volume means. Lots of wasted space and watts for no air draw.... How little air draw do these have?

Oh, i rarely use socks.

Here's a pic of my 30" running the mag 12 and there is definitely no dead space in bubbles, but when I was having my problem it was as bad as yours.

Where would u suggest I keep my water level inside the skimmer body?

I'm around 1/4" below the flange.
Depends how wet/dry you want to skim and the height of the water in your sump.

Bring up the water level till the wet bubbles start slowly pouring into the cup. Dial it back down a touch at a time until it stops pouring over.

Then over the next day or so just dial it back a touch at a time until you get the skimming you want... Sometimes it will take the skimmer an hour or more to show it's true skimming performance at a setting after adjusting the water height.

What up with not reading the posts?

Low Air draw was due to a clog he had. Of course a mag12 in a 30" skimmer will have a larger mass of air bubbles compared to a mag9 in a 24" skimmer...

And. What is the actual air draw... The air determines the actual size of the skimmer. Why the reluctance in measuring and reporting actual air draw? .....

Who's reluctant?
If u really want to know, tell me how to measure and I'll tell you.
But I have a feeling I won't have the capability?

You could always hook up a Dwyer meter to the air input before the injector if you really wanted to know. Its something Jeff Macare from RD suggests doing for PM

I don't really care what the specs are on the injector it does work very well, I have now changed out the 978 for a 1078 injector on mine and so far havn't seen a lot of difference. There is more turbulence in the acrylic tube
