the new " big build"

looks great. Hard water is good ....but what about all the rest of the nasties?
You use RO for water changes with the Dialyseas, right?

Lookin good man. Did you install them in the roof yourself? If so, that's gutsy :). Definitely looks like you could raise the tubes up a bit and get some more spread.

That looks amazing! Should look great once the water clears up. I bet the fish and corals are going to love that natural light.

Yep did them both.. pretty easy if you have some roofing knowledge. Took me about 4 hours to do them.

What's really cool is I installed a 2 in bulkhead as a emergency drain and it onlyt took 4 minutes to totally drain the entire tank...

Busy day, tank is totally plumbed with drains, return pump from sump and the sump is set.. need to install 2 more bulkheads for the closed loop pump but that can wait for now, besides I'm using it on the other DT.. lol.. here's a couple pics of the plumbing.

Second test fill underway, need to Set overflow heights , 100 gallon sump should be good but, hey ya never know when the power goes off ..

That's amazing!! I have a weird idea, can you put a lens on the tube to adjust the spread like you can with LEDs?

Test fill complete, overflows and return nozzle adjusted.. power outage test was a complete success .. I'm very very pleased with how this build is going, thank you to all that have chimed in so far.. don't go away cause there is tons more to come...

Salt and sand on order.. if anyone has any seasoned sand that's free of pests they'd like to donate I be more then happy to accept it.. I have 320 pounds coming but I'm going to need another 50 pounds or so and would like some from another tank that's been running for a while to help kick start things a little quicker. .

D'oh! I don't suppose you can wait a month or so? ;) I'm going to be tossing about 30lbs when I tear down my current tank.

I'm not sure if I could help or not...I upgraded tanks about 4 months ago and I have about 1 1/2 inches of crushed coral/sand mix in the bottom of my 50 breeder. There still is saltwater in the tank if that makes any difference. (Yes I know, I am being lazy but its in my basement so its not on the top of the priority list.) Is it something you could put in the sump to help start the cycle? I don't know if it would work of not?

Running out of things to do till the salt and sand show up.. dryway hung and first coat of mud on the put side wall.. anyone that lives near by that wants to stop in feel free to offer suggestions of possibly catch something I've over looked.. always beer in the fridge ..

Sands going in tomorrow, painted the living room tank wall today with the base coat ( New drywall ) so tomorrow's project is to totally paint the living room, install the bar counter on front of the tank, put sand in the tank.. here's a pic of the tank with today's lighting with the rain.. NO OTHER LIGHT. !!! Gotta love solar tubes:dance:
