The only frag rack u will ever need.

The OG mad scientist
After many attempts at making my frag tank right and eliminate the eggcrate and all of its side effects , I came about this product.
I've tried to recreate this in the past with horrible success, but finally got a hold of a builder www.theblueglow.com and the final product came.
The unit originally was design for 5 tiers but my miscalculation in terms of measurements came up to four levels( after some minor dremmeling lol).

Anyways I give this a thumbs up in terms of cleanliness/price/service and even more important acrylic( NO PHOSPHATES).
One thing I quickly noticed is the marked improvement in flor arounf my frag tank.

Manny, I've never experienced any negatives from using eggcrate in the past.
What are the side effects you mentioned?

manny after you told me that i did some research. there seems to be two opinions on that. they spray the egg crate with antistatic and antimold and both are made up of a phosphate-compound, but will wash away in a vinegar bath. two scientist tested it and as long as you rinsed it well with vinegar and water afterward there was no sign of elevated phosphates..

anyway the rack looks great and phosphates or not its hard to get any real support when you go with a rack that big..

Very nice! I-Tech is a stones throw away from my house... I might ask them to make me something like this. Egg crate and PVC is definatley an eye sore. Get a couple of them and switch them out when they get covered in coraline.. Nothing better than a clean looking tank.

I guess that could be taken out of context.

I mean when you build a large rack with egg crate it sags from lake of support.

Well yeas and not but u do need extra pvc around the structure. thus the reason for this acrylic unit with myltiple leg support and less intrusive in terms of flow and aesthetics.

def looks great but in the mean time I may take you up on the offer for the black egg crate for a few months. Just spent my "fish budget" on the tank from reef savy and a new pump

Matt, do you have a drill press to make that many holes or drill them by hand? Looks like Im gonna have to pay you to help me make one of my own if you have time coming up...

Thx In my experience there's always the algae bloom and once its there snails and so forth end up knocking frags.
Once its there iME it stays!
