The overly industrious sifter

You think that's bad, I have a 9" engineer that I can loan you. He'll have all that sand moved to one side of the tank in a day.

He is back at it, in a different spot. He is getting multiple vacation spots with zero rent. Time to introduce some sand competition.....I've had my eye on a tiger jawfish....

I wasn't really sure who was responsible for all the mounds, but here he is with his mouth full!

You want a cool sight, hide some frozen shrimp in the sand bed. Mine will "sniff" around the tank till he gets close and then goes nuts till he finds the spot... watching him "guard" the spot from snails is always a fun watch and he doesn't waste much food.

Video if it works, he missed a good chunk of this one but the rest of the fish in the tank were happy to gobble it up.

Pardon the cell phone video

I have same fish and he is the same way. Everyday I come home and she has redone my sandbed, plus she uses snail shells and any small frag not glued down. She goes extra crazy when I redo the aquascape.

I really like the dragon/sleeper goby for this very reason. You get all of the sand bed cleaning with none of the tunneling or mountain building.
Some times there is a little dusting of sand on some corals but never enough to hurt the coral.

mine's been doing the exact same thing in my tank for the last 1.5 years. my problem is i keep a small selection of corals on my sandbed and he's constantly sifting around them and making a mess. IMO as long as your sandbed is coral free, i'd say let him do his thing.

And now...moving rocks!

Thought mine was going to slow down. Went 3 days crystal clear water. Came home last night he was back to work couldn't see in tank. Sand bed looks great corals not so great.

He is out of control. Made a video. This guy is nuts!

That's ace the music is great with the video seems you're clown fish is dancing along! And that sand sifter is nuts indeed but a pure artist he has a plan!

I bought a small horseshoe crab to share the load with my goby:) the Goby builds his mansions up and the horseshoe bulldozes it down .LOL... they are both fun to watch. I have a Cat that's plays with the goby daily as well. the Cat paws the glass to make the Goby shoot in his hole :)

The overly industrious goby has been mellow lately; just sifting around and not moving any sand any more. I still check every coral every night to make sure it is not buried!
