Is my clown a True of False Perc? It was sold as a true, but don't trust the LFS.

I know bad pic but the best I can get now.

How can you tell?

If you want to be sure, count the dorsal spines. There are basically two dorsal fins. A hard one near the front and a soft one near the back. Percula will normally have 10 hard dorsal spines and Ocellaris will normally have 11. The dorsal fin is also taller in Ocellaris, and they usually have very fine black lines separating the white and orange. Your fish looks like Ocellaris to me.

I tried counting the spines and got 10, 3 out of 4 times. The black on him looks faded. I'll try to get a better pic.

false perc for sure. you can tell by the eyes and mainly, the black doesn't spill out at all.

I agree 100% that it is an A. Occellaris. Taller body shape, eye color, wide white banding, thin black outline, general posture with taller dorsal fin, and the fact that A. Ocellaris are commonly found to break the 10 or 11 dorsal spine rule...
