The Reef Central Corner Club Thread

Hey Everyone!

Well been away a little while since I had some fish die a couple months ago and it kinda put a halt to things. Great about the split and I also love the new name of the thread, makes it sound classy! But I'm back and have 2 clownfish that I've added to the tank after QT'ing them like 6 weeks. My corals that were exsisting in the tank are looking great, and I just took the plunge and bought some SPS frags. Really excited so took some new pics, I know how you guys like pics!

Good to see you back lotusstar. It is easier if you add image tags directly in the posts, so we can see the images instead of having to click on them. All you do is place the link between img tags (I put extra "space" before and after IMG in the tags, you just remove those spaces):
Code:

I was messing around a bit with the video on the iphone. Here is my first attempt for a tank video. The colors are way off, it seems the light sensor in the camera can't filter the blues.

Yes very nice video indeed. Question: You may have mentioned this in previous posts, if so I apologize for not reviewing entire thread... How are you rotating the Tunze powerheads? Are they affixed to a sea swirl?

Great looking tank!

DIY swirler stein. You may be able to find the thread on here if you search through the DIY forums. It's very cheap and easy, but I haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

Hey boret great video. You have a beautiful tank. Thanks for telling me how to attach the pics, knew there was some way but couldn't remember it.

well its just an internal overflow i mad out of acrylic which spans the whole length of one of the sides. i have a build thread somewhere that i started maybe i can find the link.

As reefscape15 mentioned it is called the Swirler-stein.
You can find the whole RC thread about it HERE

All of the pictures on the first 9-10 pages are missing, You can see some around page 11.

Pretty much it is just an electric plastic box from Lowes/HD, a microwave oven turntable motor, misc acrylic pieces and an adjustable rod.

You can see the whole concept in action in this image:

From this thread.

Mine pretty much looks like this one:

(this is miwoodar image not mine)

Hope the info helps.

You DIY guys kill me!!!! I'm so jealous. I am completely incapable of re-producing any engineered idea such as this. Mechanically speaking, I'm in the dark ages. Thankfully, this hobby allows for both ends of the DIY spectrum to be fully satisfied. Personally, I'm really glad I've got a Sea Swirl.

For what it's worth, (from a non - DIY guy) great job Boret.

By the way, and completely off the swirler-stein-heimersberg-meister-chow subject... I put together a slideshow of some recent pics from my reef tanks, including my 180 corner. Here's a link. I hope you enjoy them.

All the credit for these videos goes to miwoodar. I didn't ask his permission to post these but i hope its ok :)

There is a guy that makes them for about $75 plus shipping. It is a great deal as they are a bit tough to make if you are not that handy.
If anyone is interested please msg me and I will get you in touch with him.
