The Reef Central Corner Club Thread

Thought I would share some pics of my 54 gallon corner tank. Bought it used from another reef forum member about a year ago and been very happy with it. Uses a custom LED fixture and sump designed to fit in the stand. :)

Any pics of the inside?
I just have the reef breeders value for now

I'll take a couple of pics of the inside for you.

I had a chinese LED before this, it was 16" wide just like the value fixture. A 24" would fit perfect for me, put it in until it hits the sides and the positioning was perfect.

It's 11-1/2" tall, which gave me 9" between the light and the water.

3/4" cabinet grade plywood, stainless steel "L" brackets for extra strength, multiple coats of black latex paint. 4" ventilation fan in the back to keep the humidity and heat level down.
Stainless steel front piece that was rolled to form the perfect bend that matches the tank. It has just enough metal in it that I use magnets to hold it in place, and I put little feet on it that sit on the edge of the tank to support the weight.

There are a lot of pages to this thread.

I tried to get a sub forum for corner tanks, but the mods didn't see a need for it. So we sit at 70 pages of info and growing.

Petco has a $1 gallon sale, should I pick up a 10 gallon tank to use as sump under the 54 corner? Or are their any other pre-made sumps out there? Im on page 60 lol, so will 1 24" Reef Breeders work or should I plan on 2 for SPS?

10 gal or a 15 gal tall are the only 2 tanks that fit under the 54 gallon.

A Photon 24 will be plenty of light for whatever corals you keep.

Our own section would be great, these are unique tanks with unique needs.......but the mods didn't seem to understand that.

As long as I don't fall behind on 60 pages of posts we are good!

How's the 10 gallon work as a sump? Gotta be better than HOB! Any pre-made sump that are better before I get a tetra 10 while continuing my 15h search.

I saw a thread somewhere on the internet about a guy who had a custom built sump made for the stand, like a perfect fit inside the stand.
Other then doing that, the 10 gal is your best option.

The SCA-301 is a great little skimmer, the only weakness is the chinese made pump. I've been running mine for 8 months now, and just recently the pump will not start up after a shut down for cleaning or a water change.

is it possible to switch the pump on the skimmer and whats the footprint?

Trying to decide between the Eshopps rs75 and proflex model 1, between getting ready for our baby and trying to get this tank setup and plus build a canopy no time! :(

Anyone have the either of the 2 above?

I like some of the Eshopps because they come with a Sicce pump, very dependable. When I upgrade skimmers, it will be for something with a Sicce or Seidra pump......both very dependable.

Darn, I miss my 92 corner! Does the $1/gal sale include 54g? Cuz I may be back sooner. I have a 65 now, But when I upgrade, I'll wait to go BIG.
