The Reef Central Corner Club Thread

Hello,

I've been following this thread for about a year now since i'm building my own little reef and i've found soms really good info!
Now i have started scaping and i would love tot hear some opinions...
The tank is a juwel trigon 350, so 92 gallons.
Thanx in advance.

I stayed clear of all the glass for cleaning, a good flow around the tank and because i think it just looks better with pristine windows. It gives the illusion if openness...

Greetings from Belgium!

Looking good so far, like the aquascape.. I went with something similar on my 190.. Do you have any other powerheads in the tank for flow? I can only see the 1 in the back.. It's tricky to get an optimum flow pattern on these tanks, with either dead spots, or sand being blown out of a corner..

Have you installed a sump?

Thx, still working on the scape, nut the basic outline is going to be these two islands and a big white sandbed...

For now it's just ons streamer tunze 6095 (9500 liter \ hour) but i have the option of adding one.

And i am working with a sump for my algae filter, skimmer, mixbed filter and dosing pumps.

@ ricky: really nice scape. Has a good natural look i think... I tried making a bridge or cave but it kind of took away from the depth i created with the canyon...

@tangiers: and still the cabinet is to small! Total height is 1 meter and inside it's about 80 cm. But with the dosing pumps (12!), the UPS, electrical circuit board (fuse of 10mA) and the rest of my filtration it leaves a very thight workspace....

And i rescaped a little bit in the meanwhile.

Hey guys, looking to pull the trigger within the next month on LED lights for my 92g corner.
My main interest is soft corals and maybe a BTA. Would like to stay in the 500 to 800 range.
I'm just so overwhelmed right now with all the latest additions, and price cuts going on, so any input from fellow corner owners is greatly appreciated.

I'm leaning towards 3 Kessil 160 this would help me to get a good coverage going and I like the aesthetics, but when you factor in the mounts and cables its starting creep outside of my comfort range price wise, so if anyone has a cheaper alternative I am all ears. Also the recent price drop on the kessil 150 would save me a good 240$ across 3 though losing the ability to adjust the spectrum , I wouldn't even know which fixed spectrum to choose :X

I like TMC aquarays...

Marine White = 14k ( My Acros seem to be happy under these )
Marine Blue = 20k

If you are looking to only do softies and maybe a BTA............how about a ReefBreeder Photon 32?

That will give you full coverage in a single easy to hang fixture.

Found this in the classified section -

I can't see the classified forum quite yet :/
I was worried a single fixture might give me some shadowing however I suppose that isn't the case with my current cfls

Haven't heard of the aquarays I'll give them a look.

Saltydoug- if I'm not mistaken... only 9 more posts and you can see the classifieds. (50 posts and 3 month waiting period) I have 3 of the kessil a360we's on my 135 above and love them.

I debated on getting 2 or 3... but after much recommendation from friends /others with kessils I went with 3. I'm glad I did. 2 def covers the tank... and I don't know if I would have really known differently until seeing the 3rd above it that the "dim" spots are totally taken out with the extra 3rd puck.

Thought I'd put my slice of the ocean up.. My mushroom is sulking as is my Duncan as they were subject to a bit of TLC before the shot..

Tangers, how do you like the gyre in your corner tank. I'm thinking about trying a 130 in mine.

I know the question was directed at someone else.. but I have the same Gyre ( See top right in pic on my last post #3677 above ) so thought i'd add my 2 cents.. It's a great bit of kit IMO, although noise could be improved, and the reverse gear isn't amazing due to the angle of the blades. You can have it cranked well over halfway and it barely moves anything in reverse mode ( Great for clearing it out though ).

I have it on pulse setting, on the 2nd power level and it does an amazing job at keeping things off the sand. I initially had it in the tank on its own but had an area in the bottom right corner where crap was settling.. So i added the Power Head in the top left of the pic which solves the problem.

Your rockwork arrangement will play a vital role in getting the gyre flow how you like it.
