So I phailed again at fotos.
But, it's mainly cause Sunday night I added more corals and some deepwater zoa's to the tank which clouded things up and it wasn't looking pretty... I did have the camera out.. all intentions of photos... but it just looked ucky...
I purchased a blue Linkia(sp) (blue starfish), that is from Fiji... The LFS guy (who'm I trust 100%) said that there is a rumor that the Fiji Linkia's are surviving well... He did say he had no proof, and to assume that they were the same as all others... but my question for those out there... Has anyone heard of this rumor??? Threadlinks?

what i did was, click on the quote post on jesses thread and you will see the photobucket number of the avatar, right click the mouse on it and send it to your documents or pictures etc, then go to edit your avatar in your rc and press browse, then scroll through your documents or pictures until you see the avatar and press open, job done, give it a try
actually its easier than that, just right click on the picture and send to your pc, then go into avatar on your rc and press browse

Oh yeah i guess your right...but you did start this killer thread! So PROPS TO BOTH OF YOU!!!!!! And i'm going to try the Koralia hanging idea tonight, and mesh mod for my skimmer. I'm up to about 3 hours a day on my new MH light, and the tank looks awesome when it's on!
I like number 2 and 3.

I have been trying to lower the nitrates for 6 months now and cant get it lower than 25. They were over 100 when I first noticed a few months ago. ya ruf- i'm dosing vodka in my tank... been dosing for 2 months. I really like what it has done to my tank (especially since I have a very heavy bio-load). I dose 6.2 ml each week and I'm about to go up to 6.7ml tom. I have noticed a huge increase in how the tank looks. Almost all of the algae has dissappeared. I still have way too high po4 and nitrates for a sps tank but they are growing great so i'm happy.
btw the first two weeks i dosed vodka my nitrates dropped in half.

I read that article and think Im going to try it out starting tonight. According to my calculations going to start with .3ml
btb, what kind of lighting are you using? I have a pfo 400w de setup and want to switch to something else since the bulb selection sucks.

RufRdin; I'm suggesting you look at a zeolite based system like zeovit or ultralith. This is the trend right now and the results are quite good, to simply amazing. Absolutely they cost more $$ than dosing with sugar or vodka, but it's a lot less black-magic and more biology...
Of course, water changes, will always be the winner... if you do several 40% water changes, say every 4 days for the next two weeks, you'll drop those nitrates and any other "junk" in your system...
I only take time to vacuum my detritus about once every 6 months... the other water changes are simply pump all the water into the drain, then pump the new water (pre-mixed in a 50gal barrel) into the system.. takes about 20min.. less if I bought bigger pumps...
Doing that will completely fix all problems... I'm still saying that the best reef-water possible would be one that has a constant water-replacement of about 5% / day... Not water changes.. just keep new water mixing into the tank and taking the same amount out at a constant rate... if there was a reliable way to measure salinity I would likely set this up in an automated fashion...
