I cant wait to see the pics and video of your flow. I have been thinking of doing something with mine. I have mostly softies and LPS so I dont need the flow that the SPS need but my flow is so inconsistent. I have 4 powerheads in the back of my tank all kinda blowing through my rockwork. I have a few corals that like more flow like torches and that limits my options as to where I can put them. I'm thinking about going back through this thread and reading up on the hot points on corner tank flow.

reefscape, I'm in Rochester and i LOVE going to buffalo for fish store field trips. ARC is definitely worth the drive. That sounds like a great deal there and I wish I could help you out and take some of those frags off your hands for you but I have never tried acans and I dont think i'm ready for them yet. Looks like you're stuck with them. Shucks!

I have them in lagoon mode right now... I want to try that for a bit, then try reef-crest. I've no preference right now.
Yes, they are synced... man that process could not be easier... you simply hold some buttons for 3seconds... one button combo sets the controller to MASTER, another button combo sets it to slave... set one to master and the rest to slave mode... and you are done..... Ignore the slave controllers now, they do whatever your master does... simple, simple, simple.. Speed, mode, etc all synced from the master...
You set the slaves to one of two modes, either matched or opposite... in matched they do the same as the master, in opposite they do the opposite... To create a wave, i set the mode to PULSE and the slave to "opposite" mode.. one pump pushes for 1sec or so, then the other pushes back... There is a 1 page manual, and it's all you need... so completely simple it should be illegal.
PS: Kelso1980 - Acans are the easiest corals to keep. Often sold as beginner corals. If you can keep your water wet, you can keep acans...

RuffRidin, Hookup... I am thinking of doing a Koralia4 & MP40W combo, my only problem is I cant seem to fid a spot where the flow of the MP40 wouldnt crash w the other wall almost immediately. Where do you guys have yours placed? Some pics would help...

Kelso - HAHAHA!!!! I know it's a real shame that if i end up having to keep 6 Acan frags! And yes they seem very easy to keep. They don't really need a lot of light at all, and i keep them in moderate to high flow areas of the tank. I know what you mean though, when your hesitant to get them, probably mostly because of the price! They are expensive little things, but the colors that Randy has them in is incredible!!!!
Hookup - I wouldn't be concerned about having those things run at 100%. 6500gph in a 92 compared to around 5000 (soon to come) in my 54gal. I wish i could get Vortecs, but i'm sticking with modded Korallias. Also this weekend i'm doing a mesh mod and bubble plate mod on my skimmer. I hope it works!

Photo-blog coming of how to setup these pumps, but honestly... it could not be simpler.. unless it came with a midget who set it up for you and yelled out "boss, da wave, da wave" when he was finished...

HAHAHA!!!!! Yes i do have sand, but i'm hoping i can position the PH's so it's not a sandstorm in there. I need a lot more flow, and i really don't like the look of bare bottom, so i'm just gonna go for it and see what happens. I think the sand will end up setteling, and i'll be able to get the flow adjusted eventually

I put in the rock first, planning to have a center island type setup. It just sort of ended up being kind of steep, but the rock is right on the bottom with the sand poured in after the rockwork was stable.
I need ideas for filtration. I can't have a sump because I have small kids and other small pets. I was planning to use and aquafuge HOB refugium, but I had a canopy built instead. The openings in the canopy are 12" long, extremely limiting my filtration possibilities. I have an AquaC Remora skimmer, and an Aquaclear 70 right now. I guess I could mod the ac70 into a fuge, but it would be too tiny for a 54g.
Your thoughts? What about a HOB canister and just filling it with cheatto?

First... Shake & Bake is a funny line... I assume it's a movie quote... We had a guy at work that we dubbed Rickey-bobby... very funny times...
Second... Am I understanding fully correctly that you are going to run everything HOB style on the 54g? That's fine, but I think you'll have to rule out some of the more sensitive items... or be dilligent on husbandry...
For a fuge planning, do remember to throw a light on it and if possible light it in reverse of the DT... but without LR in it that's limited value... I'm sure you thought of this, but somone on my home-town forums did not realize this so I thought i'd throw it out there.

Big Benji - The CPR 2.5 gal HOB fuge is 12" long. I managed to hang one on the side of my 20gal. and now it's on my 54. I have about 3-4" of Miracle Mud, some small pieces of rock, Chaeto, Red and Green Grape Caulpera, Mexicana (Feather) Caulpera and Sawblade Calupera. There's TONS of pods and stuff in there crawling and swiming around. I put 2 Nassarius snails in just to keep the sand stirred up a little bit, and they didn't wipe out any pods that i noticed. If you can wedge one in your spot, i'd recomend it. I've been pretty pleased with mine, but i wish i could dump my skimmer outlet in there to feed it instead of taking water from the display to feed it. Also, you could DIY a fuge pretty easily with some acrylic and make it any size you need. Good luck!

Reefscape, the smallest aquafuge I can find is 13" long, but 12" tall. I really don't want to mess with the canopy any more. I may need to DIY a hob fuge that's just either really deep or really wide. I'm guessing I would need a stand for it if it gets too big.
As for your fuge picking up water from your skimmer, have you looked at the surface skimmer attachments for the AquaC remora? It has 2 compartments, and I know another powerhead would fit in the output side of the skimmer. The only problem would be a giant black box in your tank, and you'd have to put your skimmer and fuge next to each other. I have one on my skimmer, but I've already DIY'd a smaller one.

Wow! What a thread! Took me a long time to glance thru all 44 pages. Given the constrains and challenges of a corner tank I am impressed with all the different designs and great ideas discussed in this thread. I hope I can share with you my experience of starting a 92 g corner tank which I built two years ago.
