The Reef Central Corner Club Thread

No, I never hear about the balling method...
I bought from BRS the kalk and was thinking of making the batch and after been sitting for few hours take the clear water to another bucket and put it in my ATO... That way dont need to worry about the powder been in my tank...

what did u think???
and about the balling method, how it works???
Thanks again :)

hey, I have some hair algae on some coral pieces (zooanthids and gsp). Will full strength peroxide be OK on zoos or should it be 50/50, and is GSP safe to do peroxide treatment? Thanks!

Hey guys haven't posted a pic of my 54 corner in a long time. It has changed over the past couple of years due to loosing a couple huge colonies which i accrediate to flow issues. Here are a couple updates while in the rehabilitation stages.

Hey guys, just looking for some thoughts and advice on a thread that I posted on DIY and reef discussion. Here goes:

Hey everyone. I've had reef tanks since 03, but for the last 2 years I haven't had any tank at all. I havemy old20h thatI want to set up again. I am looking at glass-holes super nano overflow kit, which I will pipe through the wall into a furnace room with some type of rubbermaid tub for a sump. I am in need of a skinner, and I really like the 6" Reef Octo, but also love the Vertex IN series. Both are around $200. I'd like to find something cheaper and used, but if i have to buy new, why not go big???

I plan on feeding the skimmer section of the sump directly from the overflow. I know i want a fuge section and also a algae turf scrubber. I don't know if i should have the fuge or the scrubber next in line after the skimmer.

Return pump recommendations????? Mag3?? Idk really.......I'd likea system total of around 35gal, so whatever pumps would work well in that respect. Also, the sump will be elevated about a foot off the floor, so the return line will only have about 4 feet to climb at the very most.

As far as lighting,I have4 2't5swith waterproofendcaps/retrofit kit; ATI Blue Plus, Purple Plus, Aquablue Special, and a UVL Actinic White. I have an Icecap 660 ballast, and plan on 2 blue led strips. Suggestionson thattoo??? The hood will be built just largeenough to fit around the top rim of the tank, and it will be10-12" tall. Hopefully I can hang it from the ceiling, but ill figure that out after its done.

..........well I think that's it. Any suggestions/recommendations will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance everyone

Anybody on here anymore... Love looking at the progress of all the tanks! Just setup my 92g corner reef a couple of months ago. Will post pics soon...

What a great thread!! I've been on RC every day since I've set up my first saltwater tank Feb 2012. 54 corner bowfront... Being new to this hobby I didn't want get all my info from petco. Yikes.... I can't say enough about this great site and the info I have found here. I have learned so much in a short time! Thanks to all of you!! I really enjoyed this thread focusing on corner tanks. It has been really helpful and enjoyed looking at all the great tanks!!

HI guys/gals new to RC and i stumbled on this thread and how great it is. I see that many have the same odd corner tank issues that I do. I have a 92 gal corner with 20 gal sump and 30 gal fuge in my bsmt -i run mostly lps and some fish - i have been wresling with the corner overflow noise issue for years and was wondering how you all have addressed this? my tank is in the LR and we need to blast TV at night. Thanks in advance for tips.

Cool! A corner tank club! I guess I should join then... I have a 36g corner bowfront, but it is not reef ready. I thought I saw someone drill the back but I'm not sure. It's an AGA tank and I think I can fit a 10g sump in the stand. It's been full of l.r. for awhile now and I'm getting a metal halide unless I can be convinced to get something else but I do like the triangle t5 supplement that I've seen around a halide or led.
Here's a bad pic.
