Beauty sleep? Hell you need hibernation LOL
Darvish is key. If we can get 4 solid innings from him, we can a combo of Wood, Kershaw, and Jansen.
Hill can even throw to a batter or two.
Houston played there butt off. they took advantage of Roberts bad management and he gave game 7 away before it even started. Sorry Dodger fans but even money could not buy you a ring this year with no brains to control all of those good players. I thought overall it was a great series to watch. I watched the Dodgers more in the playoffs then I did all season as they are not my team. Lots of talent on the team and it will be interesting to see how they clean the lockers and try to make there team better. I think a few pitchers will be gone for sure.
Art, I agree with a lot of what you say. I think I mentioned previously the offense went south and that Houston was a great team but I don't think pointing a finger at the manager and management is a cop out as you do. I believe that between being at the stadium and watching on tv I saw about 150-155 games this season not counting every playoff and series. I've watched the manager make really questionable decisions that worked out in the end because of a great lineup and team chemistry that turned a lot of mismanagement into wins. The players play the game, true, but the manager is steering the boat. Why did the same Lakers team underperform under Del Harris, yet the same team under Phil Jackson won multiple championships starting the following season. Do I think Roberts is a good manager? Overall I do. Do I want him gone, no I don't. I like Roberts. I think Roberts is micromanaged by a front office who believe analytics is the key to winning. They should be providing the pieces, not directing how the pieces should be used game to game and I think they do that. As much as I don't think the starting pitching staff buys in as much as advertised I think they have a great deal of respect for Roberts and want to play for him. With that said, you manage the season and playoffs differently. Ones a marathon and ones a sprint. When playoffs are managed like a marathon you might get the same result but whereas the mistakes can be overlooked easier in a 162 game season because that loss might not have much bearing over the big picture in the playoffs that one mistake can cost you the prize and I think it did this year and I think it did last year as well. So for me to set the record straight, I think that the failure to pull this off was due to a failure on the offense, over management against a team that is incredible that played better. Congrats to the Astros. They earned this. It was a great series one that will be remembered with the very best of them and very entertaining. Springer is an absolute stud and that top 5 is a murderers row for sure. Half that starting lineup played up here in Lancaster as minor leaguers. It was obvious then how much talent the Astros were storing up leading up to last night.Lifelong Red Sox/baseball fan here. I watched every pitch of the series (and was lucky enough to go to game seven). I know how it feels to play great ball all season, get to the world series then lose. But blaming the manager is a cop out. Its easy to second guess a manager because you get to assume what you would have done would have worked out better. But the bottom line is the players play the game and the best clutch team always wins a seven game series. Houston's players were more clutch. What happened to Bellinger? He set a record for the most strikeouts in a world series. What about Turner, Puig, Barnes? They all averaged below the Mendoza line in the series. Seager and Taylor didn't do much better, both hit .222. If they all hit as well as they did in the DS and the LCS they would have won in 5.
Take heart, the Dodgers have a young team full of studs. They are shoe-ins for the post season for the next 5 years minimum. There's alot more heartache and possibly a world series championship ahead of you.
