thanks :)

The next update will be for the swimming pool. Now our travels are over for the year its time to get home projects finished before the new season in aquatic retail kicks in and we have no time to think again :(

We live on a multi million year old river bed where granite rocks the size of cars are not uncommon so I am hoping the dig crew do not hit jackpot! Granite countertops anyone?

The pool build should take us about 3 weeks so looking forward to getting my feet wet just as the canadian winter kicks in :(

So an update on the summer (september) project

9 foot deep! Deep enough for even my dive bombs!

Thats the easy bit done........

I hope to finish it by the 10th sept but weather depending.

May get 3 weeks out of it before the frost comes down from the great white North :(

I was concerned about the granite, but they only pulled our small lumps, by small I mean about 2' in diameter. When they dug this development (we were one of the first in) I watched boulders the size of SUV's come out and bigger, so it was quite a relief

Next step hydro inspections then back fill, hoping tomorrow.

Interesting way to build a pool. That is what I like about traveling seeing how things are done somewhere else it gives you a better perspective on life.

Michael, try living on the rocky coast... if you want to dig.. It usually involves drilling pilot holes and blasting!

Looking good though! Look forward to seeing the progress

In the short term no, but limited communication about pool controllers has come up between GHL and myself. So as ever with GHL, watch this space.

It is amazing how close they allow you to build next to your neighbor's property. Here in NY I believe it it 15 feet from the fence line for pools and the surrounding fence needs to be minimum of 5 feet.

By-Law code for Ontario is

water line 6' and surround 4'

I have a 30" surround so the waters edge is 6' 5" from any property line. I wanted to go 36' in length which would of fitted but was tight so went for a more relaxed in terms of landscaping 34'

Just been reading through the pool controller manual, boy is this thing pants (English term meaning cr*p) compared to the GHL, the only thing ProfiLux Outdoor is missing is the salt water chlorinator control. Project for next year!

$10 a day to heat! (all the time the heater is on of course) luckily we have insane hot summers up here generally.

Solar heaters are becoming all the rage but they take about 10 years to pay for themselves.
