Hi

we have installed an Hybury goldline 2,500BTU gas heater and a salt water chlorinator already installed, this is all hooked up to the controller but I hope to replace the controller with a GHL ProfiLux outdoor in the near future,

Nice.. get your CYA to 70-80 and then drop ALK to 60-90 and as PH rises to 7.8 drop it to 7.5 with muratic acid. If you get your ALK down to these leves the PH gets much more stable. Also to raise PH for much cheaper and also makes the water much better feeling along with salt use borax, its in your laundry detergent area or strores like walmart and such. If you run your FC level at 4-5 you should never have to shock your pool. Also run pump a min of 8 hrs I run mine 12 and set your saltwater chlorine generator up correctly and you will be golden. How many gallons is the pool and how large of cell did u get for your SWG?

Cool :) thanks, will let you know how it all comes along.

Right now waiting for elusive pool guys to show up to finish off :(

The pool is 20,000gallon not sure what cell other than T cell i think

The cell will have a gallon rating.. The larger u can afford upfront the longer they will last. Usually 3-5 yrs on the cell depending on run time. Keep me informed and do not let the pool store talk you into using those chemicals. Its going to be awesome for yourself and your family..

Michael, also get yourself a taylor k-2006 test kit. Its without a doubt the only way to go for accurate readings.

Good news is the weather for ottawa for the next week is hot, so we will have plenty of use all the way through the week :)

That is crazy Michael...less than a week ago they were digging and pouring cement. Congrats!

No mermaid shots?

Mike

Thanks guys :) I drive em hard ;) the water was still going in at 10pm on Friday.

Mermaid shots - my wife is still in training for that role ;)

Michael, it looks great. What FC level do you have right now and what % and timing do you have your pump running to date?

FC is zero as I have not yet balanced the pool, I am doing this today, only at the weekend I found out thanks to your forum link that SWG's do not establish the FC only maintain it!

So I now have a trunk load of chemicals to add, first being CYA and then the FC

Glad the site has helped you some. Get yourself some household scent free bleach and use the pool calculator to find out how much to add to bring your FC levels up. You only need a few chemicals and they can all be bought for much cheaper in the supermarket or home improvement stores. Def get your FC up as it does not take long for a pool to turn green with no free chlorine. The pool calculator works very well on that site for adding all chemicals.

http://www.poolcalculator.com/

add 166 oz of 6% bleach to get your FC to 5 based on 16k total gallons. Also how much salt have u added to the pool?
