THE Tank Build By Aqua Digital

I'm interested in ProdiBio, what would your dosing schedule look like? I'm really looking for something to replace my MB7/Vodka dosing, FM was on my next list, but if ya got something to share please do, I'm also not looking into running a zeolite/lith reactor..

Well ProdiBio is a lot less time consuming and equipment hungry. Its biggest asset is in the fact you only dose a maximum once every 15 days, and the amino coral food every week 9depending on your system)

I will do a full review on my blog here shortly and post a link when done.

So long time coming an update :)

Tank now been running a month, live for 3 weeks.

parameters

NO2 =0
NO3 = .01 to.02 depending on how tired my eyes are
PO4 = 0
Ca = 440
DKH = 8
Mg = 1390
Salinity 34PPT
temp = 28
Redox mV = 423mV
pH = 8.01

The tank is doing really well i have not had to scrape the glass once for algea, bio bloom white film yes, but not algea. i am now running ProdiBio for 5 days and the corals are loving it. I would say there is no difference as yet I can report from FM to prodi both are equally good at nutrient reduction, I am sort of caught in the middle which way to go, but as i do not have room for a reactor I am sticking with prodi for 3 months at least and then will decide. there is also room to think about mixing and matching products but my tank is way to young to start any fancy reviews like that.

Ok back to the tank.

I got some awesome corals from ottawa inverts, I am lucky to share the same town as pat so have easy access to his huge coral racks. Pat you need a store front !!!

Pictures - As you will see below much to many peoples delight the Ai lamp hangers are finished.

I hope this now meets with everyones approval ;)

Here are some tank shots, I apologise now for the quality I am no good at photography at all, but i think you get a good idea how things are coming along.

I will continue with the profiLux tutorial/review later this week.

Little update for you

All params are at ultra low nutrient, in hindsight this is not always a wonderful thing as you will see I have a suspected Bio Bloom, the upside is the corals are thriving, and my center piece powder blue acro colony is settling in well.

I say bio bloom, it has not been proved, but other than calcium precipitation there is little else the slight cloudy look could be, so its time to sit back enjoy and give it 14 days and then see.

Interestingly my redox is a whopping 474mV !! A sign of the low nutrients.

The profiLux of course is rock solid, it actually has become a huge value having the full set up so I can do much better live support and test things out myself before providing support.

More later this week.

Dont forget the doser group buy on this forum ;)

looking great! The water doesn't look bad. It may be a slight bacterial bloom but if you water doesn't smell when the pumps are shut off then I doubt it. You say your perams are fine so it's most likely just the good bac still creating a balance from the new coral additions.

Love the AI's

I'm running LNS as well (Zeovit) and love it.

Looking great ;)

Yep was bio bloom, got rid of it with UV for 4 hours, now sparkling. Too much early bio dosing at the start. I have stopped everything for now and letting the tank settle.

Thanks,

You're using prodibio-correct?

If so, I've read in the zeo forums that the primary moderator had used prodibio in conjunction with the Zeostart supplement and had excellent results in maintaining color and PO4/NO3 reduction. The Zeostart is one of the supplements I add every other day for bacterial facilitation and PO4/NO3 control.

I notice you are running a TLF reactor. Are you using GFO? With Zeo, I had to shelve my reactor because GFO is not recommended. The zeolites are the primary exporter and the bacterial mulm consumes the PO4 and NO3.

Keep the updates coming-Nice job!

Running prodi and Fauna marin, FM is a lot more compensating than zeo so my clients find and inform me.

At present due to the bio bloom and major low nutrients the tank is running on its own for the next 6 week.

No i am not running GFO its got PO4 free carbon in it ;)

Both FM and prodi are great products but I think there is a clear seperation in their uses, FM for sure is the all out ULNS for the big tanks that require daily dosing and fine tuning, Prodi is more dose and forget but lacks the fine tuning abilities, however I will be attempting to show how the two will work together just as you mention in regards to Zeo and Prodi.

With us supporting both lines now it really gives huge consumer choice and our tank is your test bed ;)

To follow on from this - If i am not mistaken? Zeo start is the bacterial element so the matching product would be FM ultra Bio. I would assume in this case your mod is using zeostart and BioPtim as the food source.

this is the same as using FM ultra Bio and ProdiBio BioPtim. From my limted tests so far this would not be my personal choice of mixing the two products.

if you are going to mix them do not mix the bacterial elements. either do

BioDigest
BioPtim
or
Ultra Bio
Ultra bak

I would suggest (I wait to be corrected as still learning) that if you want a less time consuming dosing regime you would use Bio Digest and BioPtim as your carbon source and then FM amino's and trace elements for nutrition colour and growth.

I do look forward when i have a stable system to try this out and learn (maybe by mistakes) what really does work together. But for now the tank has to mature.

The ZeoStart is the Carbon source for the bacteria in zeovit and the zeobac is the bacterial element. Similar principals. I used the zeofood at start up but now use the cv amino supplements as the food source for the bacteria and corals.

It's apparent that these systems (prodibioare/FM/Zeovit) are all proving great results!

Happy Reefing!

coming to a tank near me soon :)

A few nice encrusting monti's also and a birdsnest ;)

Updates on Monday

You'll love the BM150

Tivo

We have huge shipments of BM's coming in for all our dealers next week, as a company we are working closely with BM to settle the NA market, within 2 months you should see a dedicated forum on RC for the range ;)

My BM150Pro is awesome it pulls gunk even when there is nothing you would think to pull!

Weekend tank update

Well all params are still at sub zero, the ca is still knocking on the door of 460 ppm and the DKH is at 8, my Mg is 1440.

i added this weekend

large pink birdsnest frag (virtually colony size!)
Superman green monti with red polyps about 1.5" square, real awesome piece
Green and purple tipped monti
flourescent green torch
And of course the cutest of Tangs!

All the above courtesy of ottawa inverts ;) Pat has the superman montis at realistic prices not these over inflated crazy prices you see in some online frag stores, so if you are looking for something special drop them a line!

Once thing settle in and not looking so stressed i will attempt some photos.

The profiLux just simply gts on with the job, other than AWC the Profilux is running everything. The hook up with the Aquarium Illumination LED units is paying dividends, not heat from the lights at all, and with the fully loaded control of the lights with the profiLux anything effect wise is possible. The cloud cover I like as you can run high intensity but at the same time giving corals a more "natural" break from the lamps brightness, so far all corals are responding well. So cloud effect is not just a gimic!

The next thing to add to the system will be the doser for balling and the 4th doser will be used for AWC as I am only changing 1L a day this is well within spec of the doser. I will post here the build of this set up once i get time to getting to it.

Next step for the profiLux is wireless bridge installation :)

I got rid of the cloudy water with an in tank UV, I am giving the tank a blast every other day for a few hours just to keep the tank cystal clear.

Feeding -

The fish are being fed on a mixture of all fauna marin foods

Marine base food
Marine base colour
Marine Base energy
Ultra health
Marine soft spirulina
Marine soft shrimp
and for the tang - wakame, although it has yet to find it ;)

That sounds like a lot of food, but I took one teaspoon from each tub and put it in a seperate tub and shook it up, so every feed the fish get a complete mix, the fish love it, even the tang was feeding within 30 minutes of introduction and from feedin this mix for 4 weeks now the colours of the fish have improved immensly.

if anyone wants to try this mix let me know and I will do some up for $24 including shipping anywhere ;)

Little update, not all corals i got this weekend can be seen they are tough cookies to take pics of :(

IMG_2372.jpg

The clip is holding Fauna marin wakame, boy does this stuff expand in the water, so far the tang has ignored it as have all other fish :( I will remove it tonight and try a tiny piece tomorrow.

The GHL doser/balling set up review and guide

The GHL doser/balling set up review and guide

Well they are here wahoo fan fare round of applause, go sell the cat to buy them :lolspin:

The Bubble Magus balling canisters are here so i can now start the GHL doser and balling light review and set up guide so many have asked me for that have GHl dosers.

First some pics

So here is the new eye candy

IMG_4888.jpg

And this is what makes up the balling kit.

IMG_4886.jpg

So in the picture we have

3 x Bubble Magus 2.5L canisters (also available in 5.0L) ideal for balling mixtures

3 x Fauna marin balling salts, no I am not using cheap salts that I have no clue what has been added to them or not, FM salts are designed for the tank ;)

3 x FM trace B elements, for that all important colouration of the corals

1 x Bubble magus tubing holder, I was amazed at the attention to detail and quality iin such a simple item :D

1 x GHL doser :bounce3:

If anyone is interested in balling or the containers or anything for that matter I talk about here all Aqua Digital dealers carry it all so drop them or me a line for more info.

Here is a link to the kits http://progressivereef.com/products.php?cat=194 I dont think the chambers have been added sperately yet but contact me directly if you want any

For reading up on this concept here is the manual

http://shop.faunamarin.de/media/content/Balling 22.06JK-comm_ENG.doc

So the next step is set up.

Tomorrow I will insert the GHL doser into the cabinet and drill the 8 holes required to run the 1/4 hoses through the shelf, I say 8 as one pump will be used for AWC at 1L a day when i finally get that set up.

More to follow tomorrow ;)
