the wavebox sucks in air and makes noise

while i'm levelin the tank, the wavebox just sounds like some heavy metal bits, whooom whoom whenever the pump works as if it were struggling to work.

and when i switched to bigger watts like 18 or 24, the box sucks in air and puffs it out, making the tank a bubble world.

any solutions? or what did i do wrong tuning it?

What mode is the controller in? Only thing that comes to mind is the pulse is too long allowing the box to empty and the pump be exposed to air.

i'm using a nano wavebox and the controller coming with the box

however, i'll be tryin to adjust the pulse frequency

but there's a new problem is my outlet pipe trembles and it definitely shakes the tank. so i gotta stop the wavebox

otherwise i'm afraid too much shaking will crack my tank

Which light is lit on the controller? Pulse or Wavebox? Is the box emptying of water when running thru a cycle?

What do you mean by outlet pipe trembles? Are you talking about your return from the sump?

yup, the returning pipe.

and the light on the controller just switches red and green

the box really emptied water thru a cycle.

Do you have the 6091 or 7092 controller? What Shawn is referring to is that the 7092 controller which has shipped with the 6206 since June can run in Pulse or Wavemode, Wavemode is for waveboxes and pulse is for stream pumps, pulse mode is too long and would empty the box of water. The box should be submerged so only about 3/4" is above the water. I am puzzled by what you describe, can you post pictures of this trembling pipe and let me know on the controller model? I am in Orange County for Reefapalooza so I won't be online as regularly as I usually am.

thanks roger

i'll get the pictures.

here come the pictures

the returning pipe just stands alone in the overflow box

and the connection of the wavebox

and the controller is 6091.

the outlet pipe trembling has nothing to do with the wavebox

yet it shakes the tank at least to some extent. i haven't felt it noticeably though.

so i guess it's better to dismount the box from the glass.

the box did suck air in even though i submerge it totally in water. i gotta put it kinda deep then it worked---actually it worked beneath the surface and produced waves.

The Nano Wavebox could pull in air at 24V if the knob on the controller is turned fully clockwise, producing a wave is dependent on this timing set by this knob. Assuming the tank is 4-5ft long the position that will make a wave is closer to 11-2 o clock and in this position the box should not produce bubbles and the pump should turn off and on every .40-.80 seconds about.
