They're finally spawning!

I finally cleaned up some space on the digi cam and took a pic of the o's spawn. I'll get some more pics up shortly.

Very nice pair. I got a Black Oscellaris and an Orange Oscellaris I hope decide to pair up and spawn. With your guys, do they stay jet black once they have developed fully? Or can tress make some orange show back up?

Do you happen to know how genetics work for clown fish? Do all offspring look like the mother or father? For me, would all of my offspring be a carrier for the black coloration while maybe not all would develop it? Or would the offspring be kind of like a mix of the 2 parents?

Anyway, don't want to hijack your thread :) The pair looks amazing!

Congratulations! I am so jealous! I've had a pair of black ocellaris for 3 years now and they still haven't spawned. I'm hoping moving them to their own tank will help.
Yours are perfect!

i have a pair of B/W o's and they are doing great really eating and im trying now to saturate feed them high hufa foods and a variety also.
they seem to love it and so does the rest of the tank. seems they found a spot on a conch shell they like and they have just started to quiver for eachother. so it looks like the pairing is going smoothly. They were sold as W/C and ill take it that they are. so hopefully it wont take 5 years but given good conditions and possible a new tank just for them things work out.

Congrats! Very nice pair! I've been trying to get my onyx percs to spawn on a tile but no luck yet. If you can get yours to, let me know how you accomplished it. The tile's been in the tank, right next to their spawning site for almost a year now. The initially responded by not spawning (or hiding the nest, not sure which) for a couple of months and now they taunt me by placing the eggs within 1/2" of the tile. They did manage to attach a dozen eggs 2 clutches ago, but the most recent batch was again completely on the rock.

Good luck with yours, they are beautiful!

Congrats Chris!!!

I still have my second pair of spawning blacks following the sale of my broodstock. They are great fish and if you feel up to the challenge the fry are pretty easy to raise as far as clowns go. The fry are beginner rated, but it is getting the parents to spawn that makes this species hard. So, heck you are well past the hump. As for moving the eggs, do as Oama stated and you will be fine. It is key to move them late and keep them in the dark. Heck, if you are driving them to Rod, pack them up on hatch night and just keep them in a dark bucket. Add an airstone and heater when you get to Rod's and you are good to go.

Good Luck,
Travis
