Those with Radions...

Do you folks use the "Lightning Storm" option? Thoughts and opinions? Notice anything odd during?

I use it just for the looks set for 10% of the time at 5pm.The first few times it freaked the fish out but now the dont even notice

Gotcha!

I have it set for 30%, also at 5pm. All of my softies and LPS pretty much close up lol. I think it's time to make an adjustment. They DO open up a bit again after but the end of my cycle is shortly after that so they don't open for long.

When the hell did you buy those???

I have the Sols with the lightning storm option. Used it initially for kicks, but got over it quickly. Every time it went off I had a knee jerk reaction like something was shorting out. My nerves couldn't take it.

You knew I got a pair of them along with an MP40 like 6 months ago! It's all for the kitchen 150g that will be complete somewhere in the 2020's ;)

I currently have one of them over my 40b.

what am I missing in modern reef aquarium lightning... I mean lighting.... trends? :lmao:

Funny man lol...

So you set the percentages of a "storm chance." When one ensues, the lights will dim simulating cloud cover then the whites randomly strobe/flash for a few mins. When I get the Mp40 online, it will synch with the Radion and will increase flow/surge until the session is complete...just a few mins.

I know it's kinda crazy but kinda "neat" at the same time!

I used lightning mode on my AI Nano for kicks only too. Most people aren't convinced that it looks pretty cool until they see it in person. My friends love it but I only run it when they visit.

A tangent from the original question, but hopefully not a hijack. How do you guys acclimate new corals to the Radions? I understand when you first put them on the tank you should start at a very low intensity and gradually bring them up. But, what do you do when all your other corals are used to the higher intensity and you want to add a new coral to your existing setup?

Good question!

For me, I switched from a 6 lamp T5 fixture ovr the 40b to one Radion. It's been completely trial and error thus far and shift things around per the corals perceived needs.

My tank is doing it right now with the lightning. My fish are hiding and clownfish are together in the corner of the tank. I just have it occur between 11:45pm-11:59pm before night mode. I never understood why some people love it.
